Atienza Kali Combat Archery

The system that I practice is my family's system that has been passed on from my great grandfather to my grandfather and now to me. We call our system mandarigma combatan . Our system was used by my relatives during World War II against the Japanese occupation and is still effective today.

Fair enough. From what part of the Philippines does your art originate? Is it taught to the general public or just within the family? Also - did you study with Mike Eugenio in Chicago?

Best,

Steve

Steve, my family's art I consider very unique. My great grandfather and his relatives before him were businessmen and warriors in the Philippines. So they did a lot of travelling across all the Islands. We actually have silat that one of my realtives learned while in the Southern Philippines. We have some techniques from Sulu.We then have some systems from the Visayan region and also arts from the North. We have a system that was taught to us by the ifugaos. It's more buno or wrestling. So our arts is a blend of many systems from the Philippines. We of course have our areas of training from ground fighting to bladed weapons.BUT NO COMBAT ARCHERY OR COMBAT SLING SHOT!
At the moment we don't teach outside the family.Maybe soon. We would like to one day introduce our system to the general public.I might take on a few students to see how that goes.
Guro Mike is one of my good friends. We have exchanged techniques in the past.
Thanks for the interest Steve.

Now, that I think of it Steve, I may start a small group real soon. But, they first have to go through an interview process first by me and my uncles. Edge wiper, you are invited to come.Your interest in hardcore porn intrigues me.LOL.

ok gentlemen...before any of you mention my name again and make judgement on who i am affiliated with...here's my credentials:(you had a chance...:)).

as far as FilAm2007 mentioned...it's possible that i've trained with him before...i meet hundreds of people and FMA community is not that big. i've requested FilAm2007 to refresh my memory as to how we've met in another thread since he doesn't receive PM's.

FilAm2007 please email or PM me and refresh my memory as to how we got acquainted...Chicago doesn't have a big FMA population (in the open).

my only offer in this hi-jacked thread is to offer a solution-a friendly match...like true gentlemen of FMA.

so again Steve, FilAm2007, Edge Fighter or anyone else...please hold back any ideas or judgement you may have formed about me. like everyone here...i have passion for FMA and do my little part in promoting it. what's good or bad is not for me say. we let the art choose the students. if archery is something that interests you, then go for it. it definitely has benifits. i shoot with a bow and arrows and enjoy it-not a fancy one one, but an antique one made in the Philippines by the one of the Igorot tribes.

i also teach sarong, and lubid...is it practical? it can be when related to jiu jitsu gi work or as an improvised weapon...ex: shoulder bag, belt, scarf, neck tie, or regular winter coat.

i also teach sibat or spear...again, the appeal is different for each person if you can relate to them an actual application. ex: rake, or floor mop. if someone is interested and asks for it. i show it if i know it.

if someone comes along and aks me for Archery i would show it...and how it applies to hunting, combat, as a focused discipline, and just plain old fun hobby. the same with knife throwing and the list can go on and on...

please feel free to use PM and my email regarding any other issues...ekim60618@yahoo.com or if you're ever in Chicago stop by and say hello...i'm pretty easy to find. :)

Edge Fighter...where do you train?

suggestion: keep your name-calling and attacks private...not that i mind. for me it's ENTERTAINMENT. :)

Guro Mike, I'm not here to judge.I was the one who some of you passed a judgement on.Without really getting to know who I am.I am a new member of this great community and already I have had my culture and good family name disrespected on and shited on.All I was doing was expressing my very strong opinion about such useless art. You and I met in the circle. The circle of trust.Until one of the members insulted my family and that's when I had to get out. After I left the circle, I returned back to my homeland and lived there for 5 years to organize my family system so that maybe one day I could share it with the world.Sorry to bring you into this my brother.

Here's my girlfried. She'll kick your butt and you'll like it!

Hey Mike,
I like your sites. Very cool. Do you know Elisa Au? Man, what a hottie! I'd do her in a second.

She reminds me of my other girl. I don't remember the color of her eyes though.

Man!!!!!!Forget the interview process edge wipe! You are in!!!!! Could you introduce me to Elisa????????? If you can that would be sweet!!!That would mean less jerky, jerky at the office.Say goodbye to Rosey and her five sisters.

If you like archery, then pratice it. Use it as a hobby. There is nothing practical about it. If your into real world combat training, then archery is not usefull at all. Maybe for hunting thats about it. For street self defense, totally useless, a waste of time. Just like a sword, or even a kerambit. You get caught with a kerambit your going to jail, no questions asked. Are you going to carry a sword? Are you going to carry a bow and arrow? If you want to be good with a knife, then practice.

Holy crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would love to get into her guard. Why can't I find training partners that look like that??????????

Hey Mike, I've heard of you to actually. I am from the Chicago area. Accept, I know you as MILK MAN MIKE. Something about someone tried to mug you while you were buying milk for your kid, and you hit the guy with the milk container, or something like that. Something about milk. That's cool your on here.

Thanks for the response. I'd like the chance to see your family art if I'm ever out in Chicago, where the beef is corn-fed.

Apparently, so are the women...

Best,

Steve Lamade

hmmm is it just me or there's something fishy here...all these guys are new members.

anyway, if you know of me and you've heard that story...yes. it's true. i was mugged, and stabbed, and i was drunk at the time...and yes i put him in the hospital.

anyway, you guys should keep this in the WC forum.

Welcome to the forums armbreaker 69.Finally, someone with some brain cells.Did you go to Harvard? Class of 2000 my friend.Got my MBA in Business. You got some excellent taste in women as well. Where in Chicago are you from? Looking for reps. for my Family art and will be interviewing soon.Great having you on board.BTW, it's Guro Mike to you armbreaker, you son of a bitch! Have some respect! He's been training almost as long as you been jerking off.

Guro, what is the WC forum?

Sure thing Steve.Just to warn you, we train very hard! We don't take pussies.Well except for Elisa and that other girl.LOL

i don't remember passing judgement...that's just not me. i simply read threads a comment very little.

your comment(s) actually piqued me...regarding people making up stuff to expand their curricula. i agree with that. i've seen it happen.

that's what Americans want...repackaged goods. MA industry is no different from your infomercials. :)

i also see a lot of that in internal martial arts. people mixing seperate systems. IMA is a totally different monster, though.

btw, my BUNO comes from the Mangyan tribes of PI. as it was taught to me by Guro Abon Baet, and most Igorot (generic names for P.I. Indians do have archery and sumpit-blow gun).

lol, it's hard to keep a serious tone in this thread...

I APOLOGIZE TO THE ORIGINAL THREAD STARTER...i think it's Airyu. :)

Hey Filam, whats is your family style? Where is your school? I live in the west suburbs of Chicago, near BURR RIDGE. Tell me more.Sounds interesting.

Hey guru Mike, your part of that Bara Bay or Bara Boy club, or something like that. I know a friend of yours. As soon as I heard you are with Aubon, and you are the last to bring him in I knew I heard your name around. I always here it as MILK MAN MIKE, just for general reference. What was the comment you ment about new guys? Yes, I'm new, who else is?

I see that there is a big discussion going on about archery, but I seen the words Atienza. Thought I would check it out. Atienza from what I heard is actually Pekiti Tersia, or most of it is anyway. Those atienza guys are good, put to flashy. Not very street practical. I know there is more to see though.

Hey Edge fighter, those are some good pictures. Are they students of yours? Not sure what they have to do with archery, or is there a pun in there that I am not noticing? You are one horny stick fighter. Which is'nt a bad thing I guess. We just have to be careful of edge wipers angle 5.
