Axis lock patent

You didn't want to pay your attorney to do the leg work for you which is really the best suited person for this inquiry. You polled the forum here and it's clear you will not get an absolute definition to your satisfaction. Your next step is to contact the patent applicants themselves Bill McHenry and Jason Williams. Your search here has ended.

Thanks? So people here asking questions should pay a lawyer instead of asking here... right. And after they ask twice and few people answer, their search fo the answer ends. Who taught you logic bro?

This is a knife enthusiast forum. Your inquiry has nothing to do with knives specifically but rather patent law. This is absolutely an inappropriate place for this type of question. Logic would lead one to maximize their results to achieve their goal with a minimal amount of effort. You've been given plenty of decent advice here by other members it's up to you what you choose to do with it.

Asking about Benchmade Axis lock patent on their knife, is.. absolutely inappropriate? on Benchmade subforum?

So what is appropriate.? Since this type of question about knife lock patent is absolutely inappropriate? Um... could i ask a question about liner lock? Or do you find that offensive and inappropriate too?

He is saying that there is a big difference in asking the opinions of this knife or that, opinions on locks, ways and tools used to sharpen, or even metallurgical properties than asking for specific and accurate information regarding something so precise and convoluted to the layman as patent law.

Understood. I didn’t know you spoke for everyone in BF, but we wish you the best of luck as well.

Btw, we are a community who accepts all questions about knives and when you cant answer it, dont want to answer it, or dont like the question, we normally dont get emotional and say it is “absolutely inappropriate” place to ask such a question. I hope you understand us.

Understood. Perhaps It is a complicated question. But i dont find it... absolutely inappropriate, as he puts it.

If answer cant be achieved.. that is fine. No need to exaggerate it to a point of *gasp*!! Is he seriously asking about axis lock patent!! That is absolutely inappropriate!

Since quality matters to me and benchmade doesn't make good quality from experience I've had with them. And seeing the patent is over...

I'd get one of these. Nothing like a benchmade design, but appears to be an axis lock knife with high quality. I dunno Russian though.

We get it, you hate Benchmade and think they suck, go somewhere else and whine about it for 200th time.

HAHahah! just because I asked a question. That doesnt mean i hate Benchmade. That also doesnt mean I support Ganzo, or China. It also doesnt mean I somehow want to rip off the mechanism to creat my own product!... LOL this is quite funny. Wow one question and instead of people focusing on the question... it is all about “why u wanna know? U a spy? Eh? You tryin to expose somethin??”

Why would I hate any knife company anyways? I hold no stocks to a knife company (i may unknowingly from mutual funds). Im just a guy who is curious. If no answers, thats fine.

Is Axis lock patent some sort of a complex that people have, and want to keep it hidden?? To a point of the question being absolutely inappropriate was someone eloquently describes it?

Think of it this way.

Say you have a little tightness in your chest. You go onto webmd or some other website and ask random folks that may or may not have expertise what could be the issue based on the symptoms. You get some decent answers that may or may not be correct and they direct you to go see a doctor to find out for sure. If you want to know the answer you seek the professional, not scoff at the advice of seeking said professional.

He never said the question was inappropriate, only the placement. The Knife Laws forum here would be good, or better yet, a forum where patent lawyers hang out.

Edit to add: Regarding your post above this one, that post wasnt directed to you as he quoted another user.

Yep. As you say, i got some decent answers. Not a life threatening situation. I got curious, i asked. if i dont get a good answer... so what?

it is hardly “absolutely inappropriate”.. maybe “there’s even a better place to ask”.

My God man stop beating this horse it’s getting old. I don’t think you are going to get anymore answers to this subject. This thread you have started has been beaten more then all of them put together.
You have been warned, argued, let us know how you feel about the responses you have received and still you pound away. BM and the patent is what it is now. Just drop it don’t play the lonely victim of a inquiring mind because we all see past it. Chill out enjoy the forum and relaxe. Not sure what else to say other then good luck here seems you’ll need it.

Take it or leave it I guess. They're opinions and you get exactly what you pay for.;):D

Again, no one said the question was inappropriate. Beaten to death, sure. Better suited for actual lawyers, most certainly.

May want to click the report button in the lower left and ask a mod nicely to close this one up.

Ah im actually happy with the answers i got. Just funny how some few got butthurt on a question and start saying “oooh he supports Ganzo~~”; “oooh he hates Benchmade”; “oh my eyes, such an inappropriate question”.

Did you notice I didn’t quote you and my post had no reference to you at all.

Doh!. My apologies. I read it incorrectly. I somehow thought it was another assumption based on my original question like others. My mistake.

I don’t care if you love or hate either of those companies. And no one is butt hurt just tired of the same old question and the same old answers Over and over. And all the majority has told you is it’s been beaten like a dead horse and the answers you were looking for were searchable. You took that as members being mean and butt hurt. That isn’t the case it’s members being bored and tired of the same old questions being asked without obvious self help being used by the question asker. Take it how ever you want bad, good or indifferent. Because you’ll spin it anyways to work to your cause.

Not to be pedantic, but patent status is anything but static; an answer to this question even two or three years ago might have been completely different than it is today, and old posts wouldn't cover any new info. What if the patent had expired recently? What of there had been a recent court case with new info? Hell, I don't even think anyone on the forum has posted or knows anything about the Utica vs Benchmade case, and that was only settled two years ago.
Don't flame on someone looking for the latest and greatest info, especially on a forum where OP seems to be playing by the rules, has apologized for derailing his own thread with extraneous and somewhat polarizing info, and has acknowledged those statements aren't really relevant to the question.

But ya' gotta' chuckle when there are people who know nothing whatsoever about the issue posting information here as if they've got it fully squared away...
