Backyard SURVIVE!n'

Its really off to the side of the house. Momma took it while drinking coffee on our front porch. Fog was thick when I left. You couldn't even see our fence.

I lived and worked in Beeville, TX for about three years in the late 1980s. Every morning on my way to work in the summer, the car was covered with water because it got below the dew point at night. The crazy thing was that it only would cool off to like 87. The best way that I can describe the climate in that part of TX is continual draught interrupted periodically by flooding.

Is that close to the coast? Nights are typically warm here and conditions are rarely not humid. It almost always feels as though its bout to pour any min. Let's not forget the tornadoes we get to see out here.

The sayin I've always heard was "If you don't like the weather in Texas, give it 5 minutes, it'll change." I think that usually means it'll get hotter.

I'd rather mow your yard. Wanna trade lol. It takes about 4-5 hours to mow mine depending on the height of the grass. Another hour or two to trim edges.

It does make for a nice time just to walk out back and go fish just when ever. I hunt here too, which is great too cause we watch the game all year long literally run through the back yard. (Or the front)

I have lived in a few different big city's and it just wasn't for me. I couldn't do it. To much rush rush rush all the time. Never enough nature around. My family has been here on this land for years. Its something I figure I'm bound to pass to my children and so on the same as its been done. I hope they keep it just as pretty as it is now.

I would trade in a heartbeat! The constant noise and never ending rush around here is starting to drive me nuts.
I bet once your children get old enough to go out into the world, they'll realize that living in a highly populated area sucks.

I know I did. Took almost 9 years to figure out I missed being here. Now that I'm back I can't see staying any where else.

I hope to get that feeling soon enough. Being surrounded by people and fenced in yards sucks.

Technically this went down in my front yard but came home with 6 keepers caught my limit in about 2 hours.
Smallest is 12 1/2 inches the largest being 18 inch. Made for some nice fillets tonight. The wife and I had a fish fry.
Hard to beat fresh fish. The necker is my fishing knife for cutting knots and what not and I busted out the 5.0 to clean
up my filets and cut out the rib cage. Worked like a champ.

My kids first to actually reel in. (With dads he'll of course, its not cheap rod/reel)

Since this was in my backyard I figured it was a bonus to post and give a bump.
