Bad Experience with wolf-man-12

Sent him an email asking him to contact you, respond here or send me an explanation for sending you a $10 knife instead of what you paid for.
He now has 1 week from today to respond to this thread or myself before his account will be terminated.

Sorry to hear this, hopefully he'll be willing to clear this up for you!

Why would anyone show the knife to the workers at the P.O, and make a point to tell you about it ?
You don't know the people, and YOU know what the knife looks like, or you wouldn't have wanted it. I don't understand why he would make a big deal about insuring it either. I've always been under the impression that insurance was for the sellers benefit.
Even though he made a big point to tell you that you would have to sign for it, all that does is prove that you got a package. It doesn't confirm what was in the package.

It's a shot in the dark, but he mentioned " Ira " at the P.O liked the knife. You should be able to figure out which P.O it was sent from, and call them. Ask to speak to Ira...
If there is an Ira that works there, I would think he/she would easily remember someone coming in, and showing the knife to them..
While this won't confirm that yours was the knife that was shown, it will show if ANY knife was shown to them.
Doing this won't fix the situation, but it will add credibility to the situation.

Hopefully now that Karda has contacted him, he will respond, and make the situation right. These situations don't happen often here, but they do happen. Refusing to respond to your messages, or reply in this thread, is not a good sign.
Most people would be bending over backwards to take care of the situation.

He said/she said situations are usually the toughest to resolve. If he's claiming he sent you the right knife, and your claiming you didn't receive the right knife, then there likely isn't anything that can be done, aside from maybe contacting the authorities (who will likely do nothing interstate). Just because of this thread, and other similar situations that I've read about, I think I'll start opening my knife packages with my iphone on record from now on... that way every one will see what I see when I open the box. I hope a resolution is found.

I have no idea why he would flaunt the knife to people at the Post Office. It made no sense to me. If anything with a rare knife like that, why would you flash it around to people. The only thing I can think of is that he was setting up a story.

He, as the seller, has the duty to get you the knife you paid for or refund your money. plain and simple. Members who have been here longer and have far better reputations than this guy have been banned for the same....All it takes is one bad transaction to ruin the rep built by hundreds of good ones....

Edited to add: reading some of his visitor messages to other buyers of his knives is enough to have me never do business with him.... :thumbdn:

Anyone who asks for paypal as a gift is a potential scammer in the making...if they are willing enough to scam paypal out of the fee for using their service, and the buyer out of the protection paypal offers, they are more than able to scam the buyer out of the actual knife....

tony is out a good chunk of change and has no way of getting it back unless wolf-man-12 decides to man up and do the right thing and refund his money in full.

I hate it when people go and ruin the community of trust around here....I highly doubt a federal post office employee is going to steal the knife. If this is what he claims, you can always run with it and notify the office supervisor, they will contact you back, and you can explain what transpired, and what the seller claimed. You can also provide the supervisor with the name IRA, who is apparently an employee there.

I emailed Wolf man out of the blue, to request that he step up and do the right thing.

This is the message:

Why did you claim to have a Spyderco, and mail another member junk instead? You should refund his money.

Your email is not even worth an answer.!**

What a nice guy...........

Tony-

you have the return address on the package and you can tell where the knife came from. contact the postmaster in that town. Either Wolf-man-12 stole your knife or Ira at the post office did...either way the postal inspector would be happy to know this information.

meanwhile, in light of Wolf-man-12's choice not to even respond and tell his side of the story, perhaps you should post his name and address so other people won't be scammed by him.

I think in some of these discussions about deals that go sour the complainer is as much of the problem as the complainee.

In this case Tony said he wanted what I had, sent the money, I sent the knife, and the deal was done. No problems.

Well it does not seem like he want to resolve this. So if the mods decide to ban him that will have to be your payoff Tony. To bad it has to be like this but this place has to have trust to work. You and I both know that people don't walk around a post office showing knives that they are shipping. My guess is that he was setting the table for this as an excuse. Good luck and I hope you can get this worked out.

Pete,

I won't post his name/address unless the mods specifically give the ok. My goal this entire time was to make others aware of what he did in the hopes that nobody else would get scammed. I will leave it up to them as to how it should be handled.

Wow. Based on my experience with him, I can't I say I'm shocked. I guess I'm just surprised at his bravado and complete lack of integrity.
Initially, I was a little nervous to go public with this, but now I'm certainly glad I did.

What wolfman is telling me via email is:

He did send a NIB spyderco vesuvius to tony. Tony paid $158 by paypal gift.
The paypal gift was tonys idea/doing, he didnt request it and had he known it would be paid that way he wouldnt have done the deal at all.

How does that address the issue at hand? Is Tony's paying with PP Gift somehow turn the cash into monopoly money?
