Bad Experience with wolf-man-12

A lot of post office people around here know that i'm retired post office myself. When I bring a knife to mail or pick up a knife from the post office, it is in a sealed box. IF I happen to talk to a good friend I might say, yes, another knife. :)

That's as far as it goes. The clerk asks if it's anything hazardous. No, it's not. End of conversation.
As Calvin "Silent Cal" Coolidge said, No one ever misquoted me on something I never said.

I've experienced the same thing in the post office. Sealed box, and the guy at the counter asked the same thing....."another knife?".

I think this thread has reached maximum usefulness. I am now well aware of the dangers of the gift option on paypal and I think most members are now aware of our situation.

Based on the events of the sale and the back and forth in this thread, here's my last statement on this topic.

As I see it, there are 3 possibilities as to what happened.

1.) Jack took my $158 and sent me a $10 knife. Scam, plain and simple. - Highly likely and what I believe happened

2.) Jack took my $158, flaunted and showed off the knife at his local post office before sending it and it was taken or swapped out by someone at his PO who saw the knife - Somewhat likely

3.) Jack took my $158 sent me the correct knife and someone at another postal stop opened the package, replaced it with a cheap $10 knife, re-sealed it, and sent it on its way to me. - Highly unlikely

I have accepted the fact that the money is gone. My goal, from the beginning was to make others aware of the scam and try to ensure nobody else on this board suffers the same fate I did. When and if the mods feel it is appropriate I will post his name and address if they think that will help.

To those of you who have showed support or given useful comments, I appreciate it. For those of you who feel I perpetrated the scam on Jack, if there's anything I can do or show you to convince you otherwise, please let me know.

It's now in the Mod's hands.

Thank you.

Exactly. It's the sellers job to get the knife to the buyer.

Someone needs to take it on the chin, do the right thing, and issue a refund.

I worked for the PS for 10 years!
Even back then, we were trained there where "no jokes" when it came to weapons!
In a sealed box, maybe, flashing it around and showing the staff? NO!
Its been 10 years since I worked there, but let me think, I doubt it!

With the metal detectors and Sheriff on hand here just to get your tags for your vehilcle?

I SINCERLY DOUBT you are going to take a knife in Post Office and start showing it around.

Pathetic if you think different!

You bring a knife in my business and start flashing it around.......how does the ole saying go?
Heres an idea, why don't you try walking into a post office and start flashing you knife around?
I am sure "they will all love it"!

I am a custom maker of a different type, nearest town is 15 miles (1way) from me.
And I can assure you, as much as I ship, if I went in there showing how "pretty" my knife is, what would keep me from showing how "pretty" my guns are next trip"?
Post office would NEVER think of something like that!
I notiiced when I work there, they where REAL SHORT ON RULES!

Ever notice that?

You work for the same POSTAL SERVICE I DID?

US POSTAL SERVICE?

Yes, Wolfman. I was at a client till late last night with a server problem.
For those interested here is a pic of the knife I was sent.

Based on this picture of the knife, I can't believe a postal worker swapped it in.

For someone to swap it in between wolfman coming in and the package shipping, the postal worker would have to take the knife out of his/her pocket and put it in the box. Anyone who has a cheap knife like this isn't going to baby it, and they aren't going to buy a new knife more than a couple times in their life. Anyone who carries a knife daily to work is going to have used it because they wouldn't carry it daily if they didn't use it . This knife looks brand new and unused.

The likelihood is just way too small to believe that story.

I have been keeping up with this thread since it started but i have not posted till now . This has nothing to do with PayPal or the post office Tony didn't get what he paid for i believe that haven't heard or read anything from wolfman or his friends that can convince me he shipped the knife he was supposed to. I have never dealt with either party myself so i can't say i know either man's character but wolfmans story is simply crazy to me. I myself have made mistakes in trades here the only thing to do is make it right. As far as PayPal goes you can keep it decided a while ago won't use it at all anymore M/O are all i will except or use not perfect but better than PayPal. I still hope this can be resolved before anyone gets banned but doesn't look like that's gonna happen. I also hope that you know Tony that there's a lot of really great people here and i hope this somehow works out for you. Rich

although i can't fully understand this sentence (or most of your post), we're all aware of what happened at this point.

most of us are standing by waiting for the verdict.

It's pretty obvious wolfman scammed him. He wont even come to defend himself which in my eyes is proof in itself. I absolutely won't be doing any business with wolfman but tony seems good to go.

I've been following this thread closely from the start & I've come to the same conclusion.

I'm the one who suggested Tony snap some pics of the package weight and things like that, not because I didn't believe him, but because things like that helped me win my case when I was scammed, Some labels have the weight others don't, his didn't, But his willingness to comply with everything anyone asked of him says he's telling the truth to me. Also as i posted 4 pages ago if I were being accused of scamming someone I wouldn't leave this thread until my name was cleared, and the lack of the sellers presence should tell you something. Sure he may have a medical condition, but he's only communicating with mods and his friends, So he obviously knows whats going on he just refuses to come in here and state his case. Also the fact that the seller drug this transaction out for 30 days until cutting off communications with the buyer tells me he was trying to drag it out , in case there were any grace periods where the buyer could reverse charges or anything of that nature and IMO he was just dragging it out long enough until the buyer was dead in the water and couldn't do anything. Like i also said before I would do business with Tony in the future no problems, as he's either an honest guy or a very very good scammer, I doubt the latter, Fact of the matter is It's the sellers responsibility to make sure his knife makes it to the buyer, and if it doesn't make it , he is obligated to either reimburse the buyer or ship him the correct knife. Tony contact the postal inspectors and see if they can help you out. As per the rules the seller in this transaction should be banned. and his info published so we can all look for him on other forums and know who he is if he comes back with a different name.Having health issues didn't stop the man from going to the post office, hes not bed bound, he was well enough to in his words " go to the post office and show the knife off to the post office" Only when accused of screwing someone over did he pull the oh I have a heart condition I can't have stress in my life card, well buddy you caused your own stress If your Doc said no stress you shouldn't be out scamming folks, knowing what the consequences would be on this forum.

Me too, I've followed this thread start to finish and am waiting to see whats gonna happen to the seller , I thought a Mod said the seller had 24 hours to respond or be banned , but going back he must of removed or edited that post out either way, I wanna see how our mods handle this as I wanna know how I will be treated If i am ever scammed in the future.

You heard pretty much right, this was posted 2 days ago...

Advice is fine and that is what the forum is for to a certain extent. Posting the same thing over and over doesn't help. He got all his helpful information about five pages ago.

wolf-man-12 you have 24 hours to come here and state your side or refund the money.

I agree 100%

How much do you pay the mods for your instant gratification? :D

It's the weekend.
Sometimes something else is going on behind the scenes.
We have members here who never made a mistake in their lives, so they call for a ban NOW.
We have rules we follow. We have experience to fall back on. We have other mods we consult.

Relax, we will do the best we can. Meanwhile, just speaking for myself, as a mod who may be involved in a thread, I try to keep up with new posts. This thread is a perfect example of why that's not a great idea. Same people repeating themselves, sometimes at length. My eyes glaze over.

I have no problem with how the Mods are handling this. They are giving Jack the benefit of the doubt which is reasonable. They are also giving him an opportunity to respond and/or comply with their requests. Also reasonable. We all just want to know that they are keeping an eye on things and keeping members safe from scams like this. WHEN they handle this isn't critical. The fact that they are on top of it and monitoring the situation is good enough for me. I know they have the best interest of the community in mind.

Esav, you've always helped me out when i had questions , and I know you guys volunteer your time here, I understand that there are things going on behind the scenes that we don't know about, and frankly it's not any of our business, I would just like to know some sort of punishment will be inflicted onto someone if say I make a transaction in the future and find myself in a situation like this, I always do my best to C.M.A when doing deals , I may take pics of the knife in the box at the post office, insurance , signature confirmation, insurance etc. anything I can to avoid getting scammed. I think people are just getting kind of weary about this situation If someone really was scammed and they are allowed to stay in the community.
