Bad Experience with wolf-man-12

I don't think it should be a rule. ... if an international buyer wants a knife I'm selling, I will ONLY acept paypal gift.

I'm pretty sure that agreement between the buyer and seller or not, if you're transferring goods, it's a violation of PayPal's TOS to use the gift option.

Paypal gift DOES have its place.

Yes, it does. When you're making someone a gift of the funds. It's NOT for a purchase of goods. Feel free to correct me if you find something that states that this is OK. I realize that some people have no problems with violating a company's TOS. They regard it as so serious that if you get caught, you lose your privilege of using the system.

This thread isn't a discussion about PayPal and I asked people not to post unless you're involved with the transaction.

ry, there's only two people involved in this transaction (one of which i clearly not going to respond to this thread).

why not just close it?

naturally people are going to lend a new guy advice or share similar experiences...

hell, i thought that's what the feedback forum was for (didn't know responses weren't welcomed).

it's not about paypal but the OP wasn't aware of the potential issues that can come from using the gift option.

thanks to people (and not the parties directly involved) now he knows...

(i mean this respectfully of course).

Advice is fine and that is what the forum is for to a certain extent. Posting the same thing over and over doesn't help. He got all his helpful information about five pages ago.

wolf-man-12 you have 24 hours to come here and state your side or refund the money.

I doubt that using pp goods would have made a difference. The seller shipped a package, and can prove it. PP doesn't side with the buyer if the contents weren't as descrived, it sides with the buyer if there was no package delivered. I don't think the OP would be any better off no matter how he sent the funds.

fair enough brother.

i hate when people come in here and poison the forums with their scams.

you're right but at least the OP knows something that he didn't before.

personally, i'm done using gift.

That is the main lesson learned here. I just bought a BM Grip 5 min ago and the seller asked me to use gift option. I told him i'd kick in the additional $4 for the standard PP purchase. Lesson learned.

The only real course of action from here is to put both on my Ignore List.

wolf-man-12 not responding in any way doesn't reflect well on him.

All in all it's a hobby and there's no reason to take risks needlessly.

Karma she knows your name.

So, there is no weight on the box. At least nothing I can detect. I don't know if weighing the knives would prove anything at this point.

Braille,

Not sure why you'd put me on your ignore list for simply posting the truth about a transaction in a forum that its specifically created for. That's like saying I'm going to put someone on ignore because they're talking about knife laws too much in the "Knife Law" forum. Obviously it's your right to ignore whomever you choose. I just don't know why I'm getting grief from some people for simply pleading my case in the one area of the website where it's appropriate.

I am amazed at some of the nonsense some folks are asking Tony to do here. Weigh boxes, fingerprint knife, etc.........are you serious? Common sense.
Where is this wolfman dude? No where to be seen. I like the idea - he comes on and explains his side - or he is gone. Wolfman knows about this thread; yet he has refused to even take a minute to state his case/side. Not saying he is guilty..............but, it is not looking good for him. Tony, I would not worry too much about some of the lectures you have got from a few/mod here....some people just like to think they are "enlightened". Let's just see if wolfman will ever materialize - if not case closed in my book.

I have not said much in this thread because I don't feel it is my place but I was asked by a mod if I would feel comfortable posting on Jack's behalf, and I feel very comfortable doing so. I consider Jack a good friend and have nothing to lose by posting here. I have received Jack's permission to do so and there are many things going on in this thread so I will try and keep this as brief as possible;

-Showing a knife at the post office- I don't see why this is a big deal. He lives in a small town in Tennessee and knows the postal workers because he ships stuff often. If a postal worker is your friend who also happens to be into knives, why is showing them a knife so weird? I have never had an issue shipping a knife, they do not consider knives "potentially hazardous", they are more worried about chemicals and something potentially explosive.

-Speaking of the post office, why has no one mentioned the thought of a postal worker swapping out the knives? That box went though MANY hands from Tennessee to NYC, how is it not possible for a worker to swap the knives and put the box back together like nothing has happened? I know we want to believe that those who are handling all of our mail and expensive shipments are trustworthy people but the fact is that they are people and people sometimes steal no matter what their position is.

-Lastly, Jack has not posted in this thread because he is having more heart complications and does not need the stress. He has strict orders from his doctor on keeping his stress level down and has a doctors appointment for a Cardiac Stress Test next week. He has also recently fallen and had to go to the doctor because of that, adding more complications to his current health.

Lastly, I am in no way stating the opinion that Tony is lying. I believe that if he is telling the truth then it very well could have been a postal theft, if you don't believe that is possible you are very naive.

Rycen, I understand your position on giving Jack 24 hours, but given the above information I would hope you would change your stance. Feel free to contact me anytime.

Thanks, Gaston.

Again, the only reason for me even starting this thread was to warn others about him and hopefully help someone else avoid getting scammed. I haven't asked for anything nor do I expect anything. I haven't even asked that he be banned. That was the mods suggestion. I don't mind doing anything that has been asked in order to prove that I haven't done anything. I guess what mystifies me is why some people would assume I was the scammer. As someone else posted earlier, if I were scamming him, why would I draw attention to it, prolong it and make it public on this forum. My entire goal here was to shed light on my unfortunate experience and try to prevent him from scamming others.

Sorry to hear about his health concerns. I guess I (like others on the board) were curious as to why he would be reading the thread and responding privately to people, but not responding publicly here. I would think if anything, telling his side of the story and getting it out in the open would RELIEVE some stress rather than have these accusations lingering. Just my opinion.

I can understand that opinion. But to him he is just "getting away" from it. He knows in his mind he did the right thing and thats all he needs to know.
