frank, were you not the one who listed this knife as brand new ? We all know now that was untrue. total untrue and you knew it, again I did not follow Karda's And Revdevils sound advise, wait, wait, wait, more story to follow, it kills me, but they are always right. You shipped a USED knife, you either refund full amount and say, "my Bad" or you purchase a New Knife and ship it to Meat. plus you keep saying "Soaked ", same kind of overstating you did with "new". Meat said sprayed. Meat I've never seen a knife rust via mail.

I have legitimate concerns about the honesty of the buyer. I would be foolish to accept the knife in its current state.
I reiterate I would like to offer to pay all shipping and repair costs , if needed, as determined by the man who made the knife. This way MEAT gets the knife he agreed to buy in the condition I ALWAYS wanted him to receive and in the perfect condition I believe I sent the knife.

The oil on the knife is the very least of the problems here, I think every single one of my knives has oil on it as probabaly do most others. It is providing a nice distraction though......

Bought from a knifemaker who received the last A8 Jake made. Sounds like you can't get a more recent one. I searched everywhere and could not find another like it. You bought it same Day that I received it. USPS lost it for almost 3 weeks. In that time I acquired the Kwaiback. After that I knew I was going to sell the A8 as soon as I got it which I did.

Sweet, I'm pumped. Yeah, USPS did me great recently too, a one off a10 I sent jake was in 'limbo' for 3-4 weeks....I was on pins and needles.

As you can see he knew full well!

frankp states to me that he will no longer be handling this on the forum and will be extending his offer of repair only to MeatBacchus privately.

Despite Meat being informed {and accepted} that the knife was indeed from another maker aside from the one that made it, there remains the fact that the detent problem was not disclosed and it is the sellers responsibility to do so. There also remains the fact that the seller promised a refund contingent on the return of the knife.

Why does this differ from the material you sent me?

The knife was received and sold by the previous owner before using. I received it flipped it once to take the pics and put it in a box to ship to you. You will truly be the first to break that cherry!! LOL

I NEVER knew of ANY detent problem. I only found out that MEAT stated that he experienced one.
ALSO, I promised a refund for the knife that I sent to him in the condition I sent it. Given the condition of the knife as received ( please refer to pics) I became concerned that maybe there were other problems that may have occurred while the knife was in MEAT's possession.

I agree... I oil my knives, guns, anything that could rust or has pivots, bearings, etc... I thought that was pretty much standard to keep a "tool" in smooth working order. Besides, it's metal, and while it may be a very small chore to wash it, I think it's pretty insignificant in the whole scheme of things here. As for the blue sharpie, that does help break a sticky lock bar in. I've done this personally and after a few open/closing of the knife, it's not blue anymore. Another insignificant detail IMHO

Like I explained to you it was a very long email. Please look at theca time stamp and you will understand.

If the email is very long, then why are you only sending me partial emails of your conversation?
Your first email sent to me is the second quote above and your email to me is the first. I ask again why do they differ?

1) By your own admission you cannot be sure it didn't have a detent problem when you sent it.

2) If you have evidence of another problem with the knife, you need to post it, not speculate about it.

3) Your name in the OP is written in blue sharpie of the same color as on the lockface....please explain this.

The blue sharpie issue is an interesting catch Karda?? I will say that various sharpie colors aren't unusual in most households but it does raise an interesting question.

This whole deal does stink and I hope can be worked out. As to oiling the knife, if this A8 is from the same run as my A15 the 4V blade and 3V lock insert will most certainly rust in transit. The oiling in this case may be a little excessive but nothing to get that worked up about, better to tear down and wipe than deal with rust in the mail.

Also don't understand the sharpie on the tang. Never had a steel insert lock stick like a Ti only lock.

Will do.

I will accept nothing except the refund. UNLESS requested by the mods otherwise. He provided a knife to me with a detent issue, and when received back, he has not stopped acting arrogant and rude.

I should also mention, that when I brought the issue to him he sent me a PM on the USN in which he described it could be fixed with a minor tighten off the HRD. I replied to him I would not be adjusting the HRD, but sending it back to him. I just find that interesting now, considering I'm sure he would be saying I made the issue worse or whatever.

1. The seller did not represent the knife correctly. Stated that is was "Brand New", but in private communication admitted that it came from a member and not from the maker.

2. Seller received this knife from a member and sold it the same day to MeatyBacchus478. IMO, that is a quick turn around with the possibility of any issues with the knife not being discovered before flipping it.

3. The oil is a non-issue. MeatyBacchus478 states he sprayed it down, it is not like he soaked it in a bucket of oil, Clean up should be very simple/easy, and I believe this is the "excuse" the seller is using for not refunding the buyers money, which I believe is pretty lame. I'm betting the seller is a little embarrassed for not catching the issues with this knife when it came from the previous owner.

IMO....The buyer should get a full refund.

I also find it interesting, that now he has multiple opinions of the situation, that he obviously disagrees with, and he wants to contact me privately.

Immediately after leaving training yesterday, I sent frankp an email requesting he contact my cell phone so we could talk about this.

He declined, saying there was nothing to talk about and then I found these threads.

Nice catch, Karda!

I saw this squabble blow-up over on USN now too, but there's a lot more details on here.

It seems the seller was not honest: the knife was not brand new from the maker. That would seem to trump anything else.

No clue why the buyer soaked the knife in oil. Should have simply returned it as he received it if he was not happy. That was just stupid.

But dishonestly is a more glaring transgression than stupidity when it comes to deals.

He ought to get a full refund.

Response to Karda's above post.

1. I never noticed any blade play when I sold it to MEAT. The knife worked perfect
2. I am not and expert knife maker but was told my knife enthusiasts that the fact it was covered it oil can cause the problems Meat is stating.
3. The Blue sharpie pic is from the original seller. The pictures taken with the knife in my hand over the tan floor are mine moments before placing the knife for sale and a few minutes after I received the knife from the original seller.
P.S. I have explained to you that the conversation between Meat and I was through my personal email and VERY long. I asked repeatedly for your email so I to FORWARD the entire thing to you. You have not sent that to me but said I should use the email button on BF. That would mean I would have to go into each separate email ( 72 of them ) and send them individually! That is silly and would take forever. If I simple had your email I would just forward the ENTIRE thread from my GMAIL.

I contacted Meat this morning through email to explain that I have contacted Jake and that in that email said I would pay for all repair work Jake felt was in order. I have not heard from back from MEAT. The knife is being sent back to Meat as it was not received in the same condition I sent it as seen in the pics above. If he refuses to accept the package I let him know that it will stay unopened in this package until which time he decides to instruct me on what I need to do.
