Neil has always returned my calls promptly and treated me well.

Everyone is entitled a bad day though.

Before the edit, your post said "But it is somewhat amusing to have the legal opinions of a lawyer belittled in these vitriolic posts." Now, suddenly, you're a law student. Second year. That sort of thing doesn't put you in a good light, and it doesn't speak well for your level of honesty. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Nothing like pseudo-intellectual drivel from a jumped-up adolescent wannabe lawyer.

I had hoped the annoying kid was gone for good, but now he is back, more annoying and irrelevant than ever before.

I'll admit I've only read the first page, but it sounds like Neil was just covering his bases by not doing business with the OP. your deal was that if the knife isn't flawless, he should contact you and cancel the order. it sounds like he did that. I don't know exactly what was said either way, but it sounds like he didn't break any contract, even if you in fact paid him. you specifically told him that if the knife isn't flawless, to cancel the order. he said he can't guarantee that it is, so he canceled it. I know if someone insisted that their knife be flawless on the exchange, I probably wouldn't deal with them, even if I were confident that my knife were in extraordinary condition--it's just not worth the trouble.

if the OP had only asked to check for lockup, then that would be a not-so-unreasonable request, but flawless is a tall order to fill.

edited after reading most of the thread:
I've done a handful of deals with Neil & I'll tell ya.The man did everything he could to assure I had a good ,knife buying experience. Each & every time I bought from him it was like this. One time I said "Oh I don't think I have enough on me for shipping." Neil jumps in & says No problems,Ill send you a free shipping coupon.I tell ya,I wish he was closer to me,cause I'd like to shake his hand & buy him a grog or two.Even the last DDR I bought from him,he slipped in a bag of skittles.Any of your dealers ever do that!

Fast/Reasonable Shipping,outstanding service & communications

The OP's got a lot to learn about life in general IMHO.

He sent me some candy too! I'd recommend TNK, and would order from them again if I could (I'm from NYS and thus I can't.).

my take on it is this:

if you dont like the way you were supposedly treated by Mr. Ostroff, dont buy your knife there

trust me, its not like TNK is hurting for clientele. quit your bitchin and get your zt somewhere else...duh

HOWEVER

most of the people on the forum (myself included) have dealt with TNK and Mr Ostroff who has been nothing but cordial and nice to me, and I was not buying a custom knife either...i was buying a standard strider smf.

Op sounds like the customer from hell. Neil has the right to choose who to do business with. Your bad behavior got you in this situation. Suck it up and move on, in my business I also am very reluctant to do business with over demanding, touchy, pissants, no matter what I do its never enough. Neil did nothing wrong and told you he could not meet your demands and told you to do business with some one else. I would have done the same.
What I said in first page.

I did ask neil once for a few simple requests when I bought a $100 case slippie from him. I asked him to send it back to Case for a once over, then to be verified that it was in fact flawless by none other than three un interested ABS Master smiths. I also requested that he hand carry it to Rome to be dipped in the pools of the galla Plachada and to be personally blessed by the pope. Now for a premiom I do not think I am being too picky. Niel told me to go to hell, I got sand in my mangina and thought since I own the world I would post some obsure wierd post on BFC :D:D how did I Do?

In other words ....Neil is in my hood! Id do biz with him any day!

Here I sit and wait for another lesson on the law from Mr. artfully Martial. No more expert Legal Opinions AM?????

True that....like I said, I personally know Neil....we bust one anothers chops EVERY show we are at....at his happiest, he can be bitingly sarcastic....I don't really want to see what he is like when genuinely pissed off.

Another big vote for Neil.
As to the disgruntled law student, most of them do eventually learn and settle down. sometimes it takes a few hard knocks.
Best of luck to the OP. I hope it doesn't take too many hard lessons.

I Have Meet Neil At Knife Shows & Bought From His Site
He is Top-Shelf All The Way Even With The Red Tennis Shoe's He Wear's ;););)

Article 2? What does the right to bear arms have to do with it?
;)

Surely you jest, Rob. If you were not in fact being facetious, you were thinking of the 2nd Amendment to the US Constitution. Article 2 of the UCC (Uniform Commercial Code) pertains to commercial sales transactions and applies to merchants and non-merchants alike.

If you were being facetious . . . then LOL -- good one! ;)

I've talked to Neil at shows, and I can't imagine him being rude.

Edit- Placed an order with TNK today, and I talked to Neil on the phone. He's a true gentleman, and a great person to do buisness with:thumbup:

Neil has always been a great guy to me. I have zero problems with him, even though we respectfully disagree on a couple issues, we've always been cordial & more than polite with each other. I gladly shake his hand every time I see him. He's professional, honest, and forthright. Really, I am surprised to see this thread, and am even more surprised that anyone has an issue with him.

NEIL SARCASTIC?
LOL!!!!
You do know him well.

Spark,
It is nice to go through life and be able to hold your own opinion and not loose and acquaintance because you agree to disagree with them.
Neil is that guy. He is bigger than his opinion. People like that are few and far between.

Yep, just goofin' around, hence the ;) winking smilie.

Be careful, Thomason. In some countires in Central America(I think where the pyramids are located) a wink and a smile is the same as flipping someone off.
