bark river vs Fällkniven

Which do you vibe off more? You've got a HUGE selection with Bark River and a solid line with Fallkniven, they're both excellent knives....premium. So go ahead and decide which specific knife rubs you right....doesn't matter from which company. I've had both and have had absolutely no complaints with either. I like the rubber handle on the Fallknivens for some things and the wood/micarta of the Barks for others. Different knives for different moods/jobs :p. It's too damn hard to decide either or. Just get both or get either...you'll be stoked no matter what.

Great looking A1:thumbup:

Fallkniven are meant to be in a different league and that's reflected in their prices. Super-steel laminated blades and fine knife work = expensive. They make production knives very close at the standards you get from many custom smiths.

I've seen a number of Bark River knives and have one on order (get a Boone II on Monday, I hope). Tremendous value and nice craftsmanship.

Thanks for the comments on the A1 guys.
Got it from VoxHog over on the exchange.
Very nice guy to deal with.
It looked brand new when I got it, not as pretty now, as I've put it to work a bit :).
It seemed really unhappy sitting there in it's sheath, so I had to do what I could to make it happy.
Cleans up nice, and it's going to get some good use this fall.
Going to take lots of pictures too...hopefully, I'll be smart enough this time, to put new batteries in the camera...:o

Cheers
Dave

I have the Fallkniven F1 (Thermorun handle, Zytel sheath) and the BRKT Bravo-1 (Antique Ivory Micarta handle, kydex sheath).

I was in love with the F1, but the moment my hands gripped the Bravo-1, I knew this was the knife that best fitted my hands since I began collecting them somewhere in the mid eighties.

Sheath-wise, the Zytel sheath from the F1 is much better then the crappy kydex sheath you get with the Bravo-1. But they do sell a very nice leather sheath for the Bravo-1. I suggest you get that if choosing the BRKT.

The BRKT is also just prettier to look at imho. Although I haven't seen the F1 with micarta handles in person.

Blade-wise, the F1 is much sharper out-of-the-box. Very much like a razor.

The Bravo-1 is sharp enough though. It does sport a heftier blade, so likely a bit easier to split wood with and such.

As they are both reasonably priced, why don't get both... I did :D

I have had an F1 for a few years and like it a lot. I just received a Bravo-1 with black micarta handles. Its beautiful and fits my hand perfectly, but I have not used it in the field yet. I like the aesthetics of the B-1 a little better and I think you get more value with BRKT, but they are both great knife companies that stand behind their products.

I have my eyes on a bravo 1 but have to wait till next months budget. There are two in the style I want and will pull the trigger when it gets down to 1. I have several other knives that fill the same niche as the bravo, I want it purely for looks alone.

Someday I will have a falkniven too.

No contest for me, The Falknivens are leaps above the BRKT's.

I beg to disagree. I have a Jim Mikesson Stewart hunter from BRKT with a size and geometry very much like the F1.

It is sharper and stronger, an absolutely reliable workhorse that will cut and carve into resistant material with ease. And the handle front allows you to use a pinch grip for fine work that I consider extremely useful.

Michael, nice to see you again, come back to BRK&T, your input is sorely missed.

Flip a coin - if you feel disappointed by the toss then get the other one - either way you won't go wrong

I'm going to wait a year or two and see if Fallkniven comes out with an A2 blank with the 3G laminate. Would love to send it over to Busse Combat for some of those awesome pumpkin orange and black G10 handles with the emphasis on the bright orange.

In the mean time, I'll probably score one of the stainless Bravo-1's when they come out.

I won't keep a dull knife from the box. I have had three BR knives and sent two of them back. I have had three Falknivens, all were perfect. Therefore to ME, there is no contest.
