the pinned spring acts as a fulcrum or lever therefore the pin is the pivot. here is one on a 1972 queen barlow commemorating the drake well.
I asked Tony Bose about the backspring pin being a pivot, and in his opinion it is not!
(So I sit here eating crow!) Tony's opinion is, that all the movement is in the flex of the spring, so the pinned area doesn't move discernably, but provides a stable point, so the spring flexes forward of the pin. Rats!! I hate being wrong. But you gotta live and learn!
So, it seems a Barlow has but one real pivot pin; obviously, the one through the blades and top bolster.
Sturdy lookin' fella !!
Greg
Good choice, Anthony!! Nice in Horn!!
I couldn't resist a couple of those #25s!
Nice one's Charlie! Did you take note of the thinner spring and pen blade on the new version, at least now you don't need a block and tackle to open it!!
Eric
Nice RCC Barlow, Navihawk! I like that jigging on the handle.
Queen made knife I believe. Is the steel in that one D-2?![]()
Charlie I wasn't trying to prove anybody wrong and you don't have to say you was. I knew and I wasn't going to argue the point.
Thanks..
