the pinned spring acts as a fulcrum or lever therefore the pin is the pivot. here is one on a 1972 queen barlow commemorating the drake well.

I asked Tony Bose about the backspring pin being a pivot, and in his opinion it is not!
(So I sit here eating crow!) Tony's opinion is, that all the movement is in the flex of the spring, so the pinned area doesn't move discernably, but provides a stable point, so the spring flexes forward of the pin. Rats!! I hate being wrong:mad:. But you gotta live and learn!
So, it seems a Barlow has but one real pivot pin; obviously, the one through the blades and top bolster.

Charlie I wasn't trying to prove anybody wrong and you don't have to say you was. I knew and I wasn't going to argue the point.

Thanks..

Sturdy lookin' fella !!
Greg

Yes they are built tough in every respect with very high quality. They remind me of a good custom built slipjoint. A lot of attention to detail fit and finish wise. Nice close tolerances all around. Solid and consistent snap on both blades and perfect half stops! And its a pocket honey at 3 inches closed.

Good choice, Anthony!! Nice in Horn!!
I couldn't resist a couple of those #25s!

Charlie,

Which ones did you snag for yourself?

These two Anthony! Perfect for the watch pocket!

I compared them to a couple of regular Barlows so everyone can see the diff!

Charlie,

They are stunning! That first one's Stag scales has me . . . . .

Nice one's Charlie! Did you take note of the thinner spring and pen blade on the new version, at least now you don't need a block and tackle to open it!!:D

Eric

Charlie those are nice. I have a Stag clip blade and a Primitive bone clip blade. As spoken they are built stout...

I don't have any trouble with the thicker spring Eric - - yet! Maybe when I get as old as Fran I will:D:D!
But it is true that the thinner spring with a little less resistance, is more proportionate to the size of the blade.

Nice RCC Barlow, Navihawk! I like that jigging on the handle.
Queen made knife I believe. Is the steel in that one D-2?

Hey Charlie..Where do you get all those wonderful knives?? ;) Oh..I love your new Avi..although I think you would make a better looking St. Nick than the guy in the picture.. Keep posting those great knives!!

Randy

The Northfields are like little tanks! I gotta get one with the thck springs and blades.

I did a quick look around Charlie. It's 420hc. It's definately a Queen. It has the queen stamp on one side. The jigging on it is really different.

Darrell, I've found that being able to admit when I am wrong allows my education to continue!! Doesn't mean I like it, but who does??;)

possibly a Utica piece made for Robeson. Rides nicely in the watch pocket.

Forgive an old man if this has been posted in this thread before, but it is one of my favorite ones and I could not find it in the last 2 or 3 pages.
