UPDATE!: SEE POST #78 The knife arrived and all that was lost was time.

I don't know if I can call it a trade because I have received nothing from him, but here's my experience anyway:

I sent an e-mail to BarrelTwist on the 24th of June (might have been the 23rd, I used the site e-mail form to send him a message and I don't remember exactly when) about his Scrap Yard Scrapper 6. After we exchanged a few e-mails, pictures of the knives, etc. we decided to make a trade.

He asked me to send first since I had 1 post at the time and I (foolishly) agreed. He e-mailed me the 26th asking if I sent the knife yet. I said no, my sister was in town from out of state, so I'd send it on Monday the 29th.

Knife arrived to him July 2nd:

"Hey Josh,
I got your knife today, and man THIS THING IS A BEAST! I appreciate the trade. The shippuing store is already closed so I can't ship today but I will first thing tomorrow :) I am about to leave you poitive feedback....."

I e-mailed him July 8th asking if he sent his end out yet. He hadn't:

Me: "Hey Austin, just wanted to ask if you got that knife shipped. Thanks

-Josh"

Him: "Just about to e-mail you. I know your gonna hate me but I have not yet. I've had a SHIT TON of crap thats been going on (out of town, work, injury) and it's just been really hard. I was gonna walk up now but im shit outta money. Literally nothing in my wallet. It WILL get up there tomorrow. And i will ship PRIORITY so it will be faster than if i shipped standard last week...I am very sorry"

I said it's alright, things happen. He told me it would go out tomorrow like you see in the e-mail.

I sent him another e-mail on July 15th, to which I received no reply:

"Hey Austin,

Tomorrow it will be two weeks since you received my knife. Just wondering when you are going to ship my end of the transaction out. I don't know how long I should wait for it. Let me know."

Posted in his trade thread where he is trading the knife I sent. Post 18:

"Can you hold off on trading this until I receive my end of the trade, please?"

I got no reply/e-mail about this. I saw the thread was active in the trading forum, so I quoted myself and asked again in post 24. In post 25 of that thread he says he sent it on July 17th and it should have arrived last week at the time of this post. I still don't have my end of the trade.

Next e-mail July 27th:

Me: "Where is my knife? You said you are going to ship it several times and haven't. You told me to expect it to arrive last week and it didn't."

Him: "I know your angry but i cannot control the shipping company itll be there in due time. Im truely sorry for making your first trade a shitty one."

It's August 3rd and I have received nothing from him. He has had my knife for over a month.

BarrelTwist, come on man.Times are hard for everyone right now but send the guy his blade. Also how can you possibly put something up for trade that's officially not yours since you haven't sent bean dip his end of the trade.Bad form indeed.:thumbdn:

come on barrel twist. Havent you seen what happens to scammers here? Remember, he has your address and thats all we need to figure out most evrything else ;)

I sent him an invitation to comment on this.
I want to know what shipping store he used and what documentation he's got.

So the knife in his current trade thread, the Benchmade 630 Skirmish, is the one you sent him? If so, it doesn't seem right for him to have it offered up for trade here until you've received your end of the original trade.
all da best,
rats...

I'm not saying he's dishonest. Shipping often takes longer than we'd like. But this community is in substantial agreement on one basic principle: the deal isn't complete till everyone is satisfied.

That means you really don't own your half till the other guy owns his. You don't use it, you don't trade it, you don't sell it. I have sat and twitched for days sometimes till the knife or money I sent got there, aching to play with the new toy.

Agreed, but a persons trustwortiness is tainted until the situation is resolved.

I'll wait to do a trade with someone until the situation is figured out.

Not to mention that it's not really his knife to trade as of yet.

So the knife in his current trade thread, the Benchmade 630 Skirmish, is the one you sent him?

I'm pretty sure it is. I am only assuming that because the one I sent him was LNIB with just some light scratching on the clip. It might not be. Judging from his reaction that it's "a beast" I thought it was the first time he handled the knife. It could be from a different source, but it went up within hours of receiving mine. He didn't inform me that it isn't mine when I asked him not to trade it so I kept assuming. I apologize if it is not the same knife.

edit: I was also under the impression that it is the same knife because in his reply to the e-mail I sent from bladeforums he said:

"Hello.
I've actually always wanted a 630..Could you give me more details and some pictures please??"

If you can take pictures and post them of a trade you are offering, you should be able to post pictures of a insurance ticket. Or at least furnish Delivery Conformation numbers, if it went by US mail. (and yes it's a few cents extra well spent) I know I did when my end of a trade was lost once and the insurance ticket is stamped with the date/time shipped, city in transit to and the zip code. I'm sure it put the other party at ease until I could make sure he wasn't getting my knife and return his. In fact I had no problems at all from the gentleman and he waited patiently for me to resolve the deal.

That's crap. Already trading your knife before the one he sent you shows up. Real shady. Hopefully he will chime in.

It doesn't matter if one shipped first or both shipped at the same time. A bad dealer will simply not ship "at the same time". A good dealer will have his half of the trade packed and ready to go ASAP when the other knife arrives.

I don't understand why you would do a trade and then instantly put the traded knife on the boards. Has Barreltwist already decided that it's not for him? It sounds very dodgy...

Zoinks. Thanks for the post link Esav. I've thought about sending him a trade offer a few times, but just never pulled the trigger. This whole thing is extremely shady on Barreltwist's end indeed. I feel for you Beandip. It should never take this long to receive your end of the deal. Sorry that this has been your initial experience on Blade Forums. This is out of the ordinary for sure because every knife knut I've dealt with has always been very straight forward and honest. It's a small community and word gets around fast when it comes to scammers or dishonest people and they are always outcasts soon after. I really hope this is all settled soon. Good luck Beandip.

Well, Chinpo, it does happen A popular design, a great chance to pick one up -- and when it arrives, it just doesn't feel right, it doesn't fit the hand, it weighs too much for lightweight clothing, whatever. Turn it around and get something else for it; that's what the Trade forums are all about.

Hello everyone. I would like to comment on this. I feel very bad a bout what happened. I want to let you know i AM NOT RIPING HIM OFF. Here is the UPs tracking number:
1ZX71W710356306350. I have been ripped off and would never do that to someone. The time it took me to get my end of the trade off was/is ridiculous. I am truely sorry. I have been very busy and it just has been impossible for me to get it off. I took it to the store a week ago but it is just getting out today for some reason, my store is to fualt for that. I do not want to tarnish my reputation around here. I want to be a lifelong member of these forums and hoped to one day be a gold member with thousands of posts. I respect every member of this forums and do not want to be frowned upon by them. I am sorry and would like to apologize to everyone. My life has been a mess the past month or so and i should have shipped out as soon as his arrived. Shotgunner: If you could please send me your trade offer I would appreciate it. I will ship my end first if we work out a deal. I want to upkeep my rep. I have completed many other trades and not one has been like this. Ive had many happy customers and talked to great people. I have traded with CL01 twice and he can tell you our deals have been quite the opposite. My life has settled down and everything is normal. Please understand where im am coming from.

BarrelTwist! Come on, join in. Don't let this turn into a dogpile with everyone turning against you. Make your excuses, get the knife on its way, and lets all look forward to a speedy resolution.

Edit: We posted at the same time ... good to see you here. It looks like this is getting cleared up.

Problems will pop up, we all know that. The best advice always is, keep in touch. Good communications go a long way to keeping people calm in the worst of times. Now that communication is re-established, let's give this a few days until we hear from beandip again.

I know word travels fast and do not want to be an "outcast" I want to have many happy years on the forums, along with many happy trades. Im sorry.

I do not want this to be a dogpile, I want people to trust me. I HAD NO intention of ripping this nice man off. I would like to personally apoligize beandip. Please e-mail me so we can talk...
