OK guys, I just wanted to put my .02 in as well.

I just finished up a trade with BarrelTwist. We negotiated a deal two weeks ago to this day.

With him being a new member without and Itrader ratings I asked if he would ship his end of the trade (BM Skirmish) first. I told him I would ship once I got the skirimish. A week passes and I thought he was not serious about the trade since he did not ship his end yet, so I emailed him letting him know my concerns. He replied letting me know that he was serious and he just got the knife shipped off.

Sat. I get home and I look in my mail box and what do I see, the skirmish. I emailed him to let him know the skirmish arrived and I would be shipping my end (srapyard S6) first thing Monday morning. He got the S6 in the mail yesterday and was very happy, so in my eyes we had a good trade that is complete that may have taken a little longer than it needed too. He kept great communication with me over the week before he shipped and never took more than 24 hrs to respond.

With all that said, I made this deal with BT before I knew what was going on in this forum. I noticed his trade thread wanting to trade the BM 630 for a fixed blade. I sent him an offer with my S6 for his BM 630 which is what he was looking for. I sent my end out this past Monday and I think this thread popped up later that day.

I started following this thread once it came up and that is when I learned that the first deal with BT and Beandip was never completed.


This was my experience with BT, he seems to be a good guy but maybe he needs to work on getting the package out when he said he would. I understand things come up but anything over a week after it was going to be shipped is too excessive.

I'm a little confused, is that the S6 that had allegedly been posted by BarelTwist on Tuesday (4th) :confused:

BT needs to ship quicker & possibly change the Mail Store he's using or pay closer attention, but probably the biggest issue here is that the OP hasn't gotten his end of the deal (Unless he's gotten it already).

BUT...what if he didn't like the knife & wants to trade back? That would be a real cluster, but shouldn't be.

Not to jump on BT, because I've seen, experienced, & read about people doing that & they don't have the knife to trade back. I don't think it can be said enough that items one receives in a trade aren't mine or yours, until the other person gets theirs AND accepts them.

But I will underline "Johnwaynesandw" statement that BT does seem to be a good guy that's not trying to rip anyone off.

I am not sure about the one on the 4th that he put up (I think you are refering to the one with a laptop)???. If so then it is possible because I remember seeing it and thinking it was a bit strange myself. He did desribe it as the same condition as my S6 was in with the same sheath.

This is a seperate knife from his original trade for the skirmish. He told me that he traded his S6 for the BM 630 he was sending to me. I think his was sanded down, and mine had most of the coating still on it.

I could be very wrong on this, but maybe BT is young and is just not thinking clear.

Maybe he is trying to move the knives faster by posting them before the original trade is finished to hurry and find the knife he likes. I don't know but it does cause a undo trouble in the fact that if the first trade is not happy then BT is stuck with not having the first trader's knife.

I think the best thing to do is just slow down and enjoy life. Maybe take a day or so to look over the new knife and make sure the deal is complete before listing it to trade to another member. You never know the new knife might grow on you.

I didn't get it yet. The tracking says it should be here tomorrow, though.

You are correct as that is the most important thing.


I am very happy to hear that your new knife should be there tomorrow, but I do hate that it took so long. I have never had a trade take that long, and I hope you don't let this tarnish your thoughts about the forum.

Most (99.9%) of the members here are great people who would never rip another person off, but every once in a while it happens.

The Itrader is a great tool when looking to deal with someone.

Beandip,

I have a question for you, and I am NOT taking anyones side. This is just a question I asked myself.

Why did you send your knife first? You have been a member for over a year now, and BT just joined within the past few months.

If anyone should have held onto their end of the deal until the other part shipped, it should have been you.

100% bang on. beandip I really hope this all works for you. If anyone has the right to be negative here, it is you, and yet you have chosen to be firm but fair. You should be applauded, please let us all know when/if the knife arrives. God Bless:thumbup:

I sent first only because I had 1 post and it was in the RAT giveaway thread. This is my first trade and I didn't really know how it worked. I am a newb with a low post count and I wanted his knife, so to make him feel like I wasn't just trying to steal it I sent first. Nothing lost so far except some time and it seems to be working out.

I got a tracking number and he offered to ship me another knife by the end of the week to make up for all of this, so all I can do now is wait and see if it is genuine and I will continue to update the thread.
 
Sounds good Beandip. I do hope and think it will turn out good for you. Again, please don't let this one time get you down. These are some great people on this forum and they make really good friends.

i stand corrected. however, my observation of this deal is that you didn't ship the knife to beandip for quite some time (over 3 weeks, maybe 4?). you had plenty time to deal with others (even trying to trade beandips) before completing the transaction with beandip.

although you finnally shipped, beandip had to keep asking you to ship. that is bad form.

as for bumping, all i'm trying to point out is that you had alot of time to check and bump your thread, but didn't have time to ship and complete the transaction.
 
Ok guys,don't you think this is getting a little crazy.I admit,I was one of the first ones to post after bean dip posted this thread but hey,barrel twist admitted to being in the wrong and is trying to correct his mistakes.If this keeps up the guy could just say"the hell with it"and leave.I'm sure bean dip was pissed and who wouldn't be;but the fact of the matter is that barrel twist is trying to make amends and bean dip is happy about that.So why don't we all just see how it turns out.Barrel twist,hats off to you for trying to correct your mistake and bean dip,I hope everything works out to your satisfaction.Anyone can make a mistake but it takes a bigger individual to come on here and admit to it.For the record,I'd deal with either one of these guys but you'll have to send your ends first.:D:DI couldn't resist that one.

barreltwist, i do commend you for trying to make it right. looks like this deal will turn out just fine.
 
Hey everyone, just an update. The knife arrived and is in better condition than I expected from the description. All that was lost was a little time. The transaction is complete and he came through with my end, I don't know what else to add. I will update again when the other knife arrives that he offered me to make up for everything, but I am satisfied and would trade again if we were cool with shipping and everything. Thanks BarrelTwist for coming through for me.
