Basic Urban Survival Folder

Just an update, I wouldn't mind waiting for one of Koyote's blades - just set me down for that, along with the teal micarta + 4-way clip mount - low-profile clip, non-anodized.

Thanks, Steve D:

I want to tentatively say that I will happily pay the upcharge for a low-ride clip and some color of anodizing.
but,
I will let you know for sure after I see one of these with a standard clip

Thanks!

Thanks Steve, I would like it with the teal and if possible please drill and tap for clip, tip up prefered but if you feel it will line up better with tip down, go for it! Very easy on this prodution run, just glad to be getting on the list Thanks Martin

Put me on whatever is available or the next run if i'm outta luck on this one.

Thanks.

Yeah we'll need to talk about that handle choice and shipping since you are overseas. But I'll deal with it later. Got my hands full at the moment. ;)

Just an update. Yesterday and part of this morning I managed to get all the blades cut in half for this run, minus the thicker ones of course since I don't have those. (hoping I don't have to do too much on those other than contact and stop shaping but we'll see.)

I managed to get all my holes drilled in all ten sets of blanks, and every pivot hole and every thumb stud hole is drilled out in the blades. I have to cut out rear spacers now and I'm currently searching through scrap G10 and Micarta end cuts looking for pieces the correct thickness. I've also realized doing this that I need to order more washers to fit this folder so thats being done today when the supplier opens.

Anyway, I'm making progress. On top of all that I also managed to finish up an Emerson CQC14 frame lock conversion and get a start on one of two M-Wave conversions but not very far yet on that.

Thanks

I don't have a center for the pivot hole, so can't do that exactly enough to make me comfortable, the 'tang' (I don't know what folder guys call it) should be close enough for easy working, but not so close that there's not enough to work.

It's mostly finish work right now, not sure what level of polish needs to be on these. All learning experience. Folders are mysterious.

Box can go out this afternoon or tomorrow.

No pics or scans. Kind of left all that in the shop and bagged the blades up to keep them safe.

I don't know that I'll spend a lot of time finishing them out Christof. I'll look them over and pretty much leave mine as is and call it a user because I'm not too much concerned with how a carbon blade looks so much as how it performs. I do look forward to see some of your work though.

I'll let you know if I have any questions or concerns. I can drill the pivot holes fine with no problem and the thumb studs too. So I'm not worried about that. I'll get to them as I can. One step at a time but I'm making some progress everyday on these while trying to keep up with the other work here and smaller jobs that come in like the clips and such.

I'll keep you informed. Once I get the first one or few together I'll post some scans of them as I move forward.

By the way. How many of you guys are wanting a lanyard hole?? No one has mentioned that and none are spotted in the frames.

Yey or ney??

Great. As I hear from each of you on the lanyard I'm making notes to that choice in the thread on page seven where I will print it from and when I get to assembling I'll have that there to know what each one needs.

Steve, I'd like a Koyote blade if you have one available.

Change made to the list for you Mapper and the rest of you that have chimed in.

I got all the spacers drilled and cut out this afternoon. The remainder of today the boss has decided will be spent storing firewood under cover in the shop. I've used up all the dry wood I had and its supposed to rain tonight and tomorrow so I need to get more stored away while the gettin's good.

I'll get back to knives later. Looks like I can start on blade grinding here tomorrow and matching up blades to bodies. Then once I get all that ironed out I'll trace out and drill the scales. Then its off to the band saw to swap out blades to cut all those out. Lots of steps yet but we're moving in the right direction

Thanks
