Personally, I use a couple of pieces of exterior grade double sided tape (one on the glass, one on the platen) and I've never had any issue, and my platen has gotten too hot to touch.
I will add that I do have about an 1/8" thick ledge across the width of my platen at the bottom.
Based on how hot my platen gets at times, I'm not sure I'd trust super glue.
