Getting my Falcon II set up as a grab-and-go overnighter.

Add-ons were pretty minimal. On the left side is a holster for my GPS, and below that is a Mini Rolly Poly. The Rolly Poly expands to accomodate a full-sized Nalgene or, in my case, a rain jacket most likely. On the front is a flashlight holster with my new Surefire G2x Pro. The right side of the pack is dedicated space for a medium to large side fixed blade or an axe/hatchet. I have several Spec-Ops rigs that can easily hook to the molle attachments. In the pic above, I've got my BK-2 riding tight because I'm going to hit the woods and do some trap work either tomorrow or Tuesday morning. So far, I've got one Grim Lock (to attach odds and ends), and I added some Maxpedition Web Dominators on the bottom straps to keep them nice and neat.

As for gear, right now I have the following gear dedicated to this pack.

  • Camelbak Storm 100 oz. reservoir (minus the insulation pack)
  • Jetboil PCS kit (with pot stabilizer and canister stand)
  • Sea to Summit long aluminum spoon
  • personal first aid kit (supplemented with some additional products)
  • K&M match case
  • 50 yards of paracord
  • A small "survival" holster/pouch with: space blanket, signal mirror, ESEE fire kit, safety whistle, Photon light, Victorinox Outdoorsman
  • Suunto MC2 compass
  • .5L Platypus soft bottle

I've got on order an Aqua Mira Frontier Pro water filter (to go with the Platypus bottle), and a Princeton Tec Scout mini-headlamp. I'm probably going to give the Bahco Laplander (folding saw) a try and dedicate it to this pack. Lastly, the shelter is going to be a Hennessy Explorer Ultra-Light camping hammock. Not sure yet what I'm going to do for insulation with that rig.

neato.

anything for scale of the pack? oh a back, or next to common object of similar size? like a baby condor? ;)

considering making a more serious ready to camp bag, something larger than the baby condor, smaller than a Patrol Pack

Bladite, I actually have a Baby Condor. I store gun stuff in it. :p
I can do a comparison picture for you.

You and Moose are kind of scary. Y'all don't forget anything.

Here are the pics. And again, thanks in advance for all the compliments regarding my ass.

What the bottom pic doesn't show is that the Falcon II still has a lot of expansion room left (think accordion).

Lookin good Guyon....

On all my straps I have used elastic webbing, it works excellent.

O.D. Green looks awesome, these are a few older pics when I first got the Falcon II

the two bottom straps can be ran threw the molle webbing on the front of the pack.

i'm wondering if i should be learning towards the vulture pack?

ETA: though, i might snag a vulture II if i found a good used one cheap :)

What is that one on the right? It looks kinda like a Vulture, but some things look unlike anything I've seen at Maxped.

Also, I found a good supplier of Grimloks:

I don't have an Alice pack.
But you could accuse me of being named Alice after my bit of OC fashion coordinating today.
I had a Busse BATAC in an OD sheath, and I wound up swapping out the liners with my BK-2 so that the Campanion would match my pack. :D

Do these sheaths make my ass look fat? :p

That's a fine looking rig. I'm jealous as hell.
I do some cold weather camping with a Hennessy and I picked up some Reflectix at Lowes. Cut it fit under you, rolls up small and weighs nada.

That's the "single sheath." It works fine; it has an adjustable cover you have to fiddle with.
It also has velcro straps that go both vertically and horizontally, so you can even belt ride it.
However, Maxpedition also makes a "flashlight sheath." I think it attaches via Tac Ties.

Single sheath:

Flashlight sheaths:

I checked out that Vulture. That's a big old pack.
However, part of the point of the Falcon II, for me, is to force myself to minimize for overnighters.
For multi-day/weekend trips, I have a Gregory Keeler that I like.
