I'm damn impressed. Got the chance to pick up a Jetboil PCS on the cheap.
Just tested it out in the snow. Rolling boil in two minutes. Instant gratification, baby!

i got one of the kits with french press last year on clearance, for like $60 something? awesome. click click, boiling water. coffee. soup. good times.

the standard fuel doesn't work QUITE so well in the cold, i'm told, the liquids/gas separate out? but if you keep it off the snow, on a good rock or something, esp keeping it warm first, or use the right mix for cold, it's great.

not sure where to get them, but i've seen honking big fuel cylinders that have the same threads, and bam, those run forever it seems.

I think the big MSR canisters have the same Lindal valves; Coleman makes some big canisters too that should be similarly compatible.

You might also check out the canister stabilizer and pot support kits if you stick with the 90mm canisters.
The stabilizer gets the gas canister up off the ground a little bit.
I use one of the stabilizers with my Snow Peak set-up.

Ha! I suggested "The RAT Pack" in the RAT-Pack-Name-Change contest. And I won. :D

Getting a free set of the ESEE Navigation Cards soon. Cool.

Made me reflect on all the things I've won here at BFC. Don't even know if I can remember them all. Here's the stuff I can:

Spyderco D'Allara
Benchmade Mel Pardue Axis-lock (new)
250 rounds of Blackhills 124gr JHP +p
Set of Steiner binoculars
Busse t-shirt
a custom sheath
set of three Spyderco Salt folders
Becker fixed blade (inbound)

These were all contests and don't count the things that people simply sent me out of kindness.
I've done a lot of giveaways myself though, and I've sent people stuff out of the blue now and again. What comes around goes around.

some hotties you guys got there - why don't you make them post here once in awhile :D i've gone through my fast cars and blondes phase and quit while i still can.

but brunettes are like black paint on cars...they're just as high maintenance :foot:

Here is a bit of advice, from someone who did his research, then bought the shoes based on weight (mine). Get a shoe a size larger than you think you need. It is gonna sink anyway, but oversized will not sink as much (I think), and will give you extra flotation for the gear you will want to carry.

A buddy of mine that does back-country trips to go ice-climbing uses MSR snowshoes, and loves them, by the way. I think mine are redfeather or something, though.

definitely good advice  i did go oversized since the more surface area the better to distribute the weight...now i can carry 50 lbs worth of knives :D

i picked up a jetboil a few days ago too with the pot stabilizer kit. after much research, it's the most versatile system i think. i tested the jetboil burner with it's own cup and another cup without a flexring and it took a whopping 50% longer. that flexring thingy is definitely fuel efficient!

That BK 12 looks promising, whats missing in my collection is a 6" survival knife, will look good between the BK 10 & 7.

when it snows, does a recovering coke addict relapse or otherwise drive them nuts? just wondering.

Is the Becker Machete still avail ? If so, where ? What is the blade thickness ? I currently only find 6 avail. Thanks. I have a BK2 & LOVE it. Want more, and am a BIG fan of 1/4" thick blades.

it's currently not available. send me $1k and i'll send you moose's machete and i'll cash in the insurance when it's my turn for the pass around :D

Got something in today I think folks will want to see. Pics later, gotta go to Scouts first.

I was so impressed I bought another kit for my son. Kind of strange how it happened though. I went to the Jetboil site and was poking around in their shop, and I saw that they had offered a Camo cozy for the cup. That's cool, I says. They were out of stock, so I started a Google search. I go deep on Google searches. It usually pays off. Anyway, I found an outfit clearing out its Jetboil stock at about half-off. I wound up getting the 1.5L cookpot, the frying pan, and some other accessories. Next car camping trip, I'm going to forego the Coleman stove for this dual Jetboil set-up and see how I like it. The vendor just emailed me and thanked me for clearing out a lot of their closeout inventory. Apparently, on about five or six items, I got the very last one they had. I was happy to hear it. I also picked up a Maxpedition Mini Rolly-Polly, a Suunto MC2, and a Petzl mini head lamp.

i'm not feeling well today so when i got home i took dayquil. half an hour later i start feeling sleepy...too sleepy and it's not even 6 pm yet. i checked the garbage can and it was nyquil. d'oh!

Get back on up there. :D I know I made a comment about all the Stickies a while back, but the Great Bladite Organization of '10 cleaned that all up.
Wondering if we can have a space like this near the top where the Beckerheads can just check in every day? For greetings, weather, daily concerns, etc. that don't necessarily deserve their own thread.

You get your Surefire yet Guyon?

Mine is backordered for 2 weeks, I called before placing the order and was told it was in stock......asswhipes

Supposed to deliver today.
That does suck. I wonder if they sold out between your call and your order.
I'll bet a lot of folks were ordering because of their email about the price hikes.
I also had a bunch of Maxpedition stuff backordered there, and it shipped out yesterday like they'd told me it would.
I will say this... despite the backorder, the customer service there has been first rate.
I've changed orders around, inquired about all manner of things, and they've been prompt and friendly with responses.
I also asked them to waive a split order shipping fee so I could go ahead and get my Falcon II, and they were cool with that.
Sorry about the backorder man, but at least you got the old price plus discount plus free shipping.
