Beckerhead firearms

Not sure these are mutually exclusive.

True. You can do both in the same gun with moonclips for .45acp.

I never understood why some people hate moon clips so much. To me, that's half the point of shooting a rimless cartridge in a revolver.

Went out looking for .38 special +p carry ammo. Saw a gorgeous S&W 625 Mountain gun in .45 colt, and only $800. I left without it but holy crap that is one nice revolver. Then I went to sportsmans warehouse and bought a bunch of HP's to try. Accidentally bought two boxes of .38 Super instead on .38 Special. I guess than means I should buy a 1911 in .38 Super then, right?

There is no "bought the wrong ammo" there is only "forgot to buy the gun".

Just buy one. S&W M&P Sport II for entry-level, Colt 6920 if you wanna get serious.

I'm thinking about building one so I'd only buy the parts I want vs buying upgrades then trying to sell the ones I don't. I understand you can build a better rifle than you can buy for the same price anyhow. So why not build one? I mean that way I'd also know how everything works and where everything goes.
