Beckerhead firearms

the other way I've seen for making sure the plates don't free-float is to cut the pipes at a shallow bevel with the high point centered in the back so the plate has to ride up just a little to swing.

I've seen that too Vik, I like the deflection at closer ranges. I doubt if I can hit it past 7 yards. :D

Been burning some rods.

Cool! I found that turning the angle edge on only goes so far to deflect rounds. Any mild steel becomes sacrificial because a whole bunch of hits will just dig right through. I guess that's the price you pay. They look good Tradewater!

Of course, all the hoodlums I have surrounding me seem to aim at the stands I've made...

That's awesome you made that trade!! I would love to get one of those!! Nice work mang!!

"precision fit" aftermarket recoil pad doesn't. Not for my older 336, anyway. NEXT!

Don't know how many times I've bought a product that says "Fits such-and-such gun*"

"*Except for the exact one you have because it has a slight difference and you're the only guy that has one. No returns"

Nope.
I had to mod the "fits this model" pads from both Pachmayr and LimbSaver for my Browning, Remington and Winchester.
Didn't bother with one on the little Savage rimfire.

But, if you can shape a knife - you can probably work something out!

Hoss - you're probably right. I rarely bother with the fine print!
Just saw a note on one (Pachmayr Prefit for A-Bolt): .050 tolerance. That's a really big handle liner. If it's over .050, just shape it. If it's under, well...

Yeah, it was way under, and I knew it was a gamble. I'm going to have to get a grind-to-fit one. I've got the tools. River store prime free RMA, though. Easy.

The bandsaw is a 1938 Gallmeyer & Livingston "table model". You turn it off and come back five minutes later the wheels are still turning. Heavy. :D

noice :D

the big bandsaw in the maker space scares me. most instructions are followed by "and it will crush, cut, destroy you"

it's very tall, like 12 feet? woof.

it's going to take me time to master the medium sized one, and then i can resaw some things

kinda want a home hobby mill myself, perhaps a chainsaw based one, or a used bandsaw type
