Beckerhead Knife Making and Modification Thread

Suck it up, buttercup. There's a reason why many try and most give up halfway through. This game ain't for the faint of heart. ;)

:D

WW, you got some cool tools brother. Getting a nice set up you can do some damage with and you have good taste in beer. GSOM has a potential "Mod of the Year" going on there. I need to get my ass in gear. :D

Thanks bud!! I should be thanking you guys anyways as you saved me over 40 bucks on the angle grinder alone!!!

Geico aint got nothing on i what i saved today :D I felt like they were just giving me free stuff LMAO

I spent barely over 100 bucks at the tool store and got everything in the pictures except the rocks for tumbling

I was dancing all the way to the car!!

I'm glad I didn't see that.

An orbital will remove the paint, but also convex the whole thing and wreck the tacticool lines.

I wasn't going to use the orbital anyway. Tools for the evening: sandpaper, aluminum block & lubricant.

Oh I get it. Some of you guys just want to use "skill' and "proper methods" and "have it turn out right" and blah blah blah. I may try that one of these days. :D

There's no crying in baseball, but happy dancing is allowed (encouraged, even!) in knifemaking/knife-modding.

I wouldn't recommend it. It's time consuming and the feeling of moral superiority only lasts through the first half of your beer. Power tools are really where it's at. I think I'm gonna skip the next few mortgage payments and buy myself some skillz.

Also, firm in knowing I did the right thing NOT trying to get this done for the Gathering. Plus, there was a shit ton of other fun stuff to play with. And since my "tactical beverage opener" is clamped to the bench, I'm using my birudashi to keep the lubricant flowing.

Double-WOOT!

I was going to suggest one of these next.... :D

Double-WOOT!

Yeah, but it doesn't open them with extreme prejudice like the Tactical Force Beer Entry Tool.

I'm up to 320 grit. On this side. 4 beers, one for each grit. I pooched the swedge transition, tho, at least on this side. Don't think I'm gonna even try and repair it...the yiddish word would be farpotshket - the more you try to fix it, the more broken it gets. Maybe the other side will be better. But I'm starting to care less and less ;).

Leverage and twice the "tooth" width do have advantages. But the biru is stealthy for those clandestine precision bottle strikes.

Its gonna be awesome no matter what.

And Trade... That's just showin' off! :D

Awright, last one. This is 1500 finished with the little 4" buffer and some green compound.

You can see the borked swedge quite clearly in this pic. I. don't. care......................................much.

Wow, a lotta work there. Good job granite.

Thanks, Todd. I think it's more just to see if I can....'cause from a rational perspective it doesn't seem like a very good use of my time. Waiting on some steel, tho, before I have to make decisions about efficiency and what my time is worth. Plus, I can sand without bothering the family....and I can drink beer and not worry about drunken grinder accidents ;).

Im just happy you said 'borked' :D

That is a great techienerdgeek word, isn't it? Perhaps I should've capitalized the "b".
