Beckerhead Knife Making and Modification Thread

Here’s a fun one I got out of my head today :) Year’s ago I spotted a very cool Wayne Goddard Bolo with Becker scales at a fun show. I didn’t immediately claim it and it was gone by the time I returned. Later Ethan told me of that knife and that it had been stolen from Wayne’s shop. Wish I had known. Anyhoo, I was thinking about that Bolo last night and decided today I’d make one as best as my memory would allow :D I like how it turned out! 16 1/4in OA with an 11in blade. I used 1/4in 5160 for my blade and left the mill scale on the flats.

You think you know where this is going...

But if you research the apocryphal bushcraft legends, you learn that Kephart had a lesser-known brother. This brother had some unresolved anger issues, as it happens. A Cain to Horace's Abel, if you will. Well, this brother couldn't leave a good thing alone, and while he could not argue with the sheer utility of his brother's famous, peaceful knife... well... some stories are better told in pictures:

Looks Great :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Reminds me of the rendering I did:

Yes!! I see you couldn't leave well enough alone either. :D
I don't recall seeing that, but it must have snuck into my head. It's clearly begging for it, eh?
My version above is based on the AuK4 dimensions, so OAL is just about 9".

I can’t wait to see your version with a trailing point. ;):D

I was too lazy to look for the thread I posted in some time ago. I was teasing saying I was gunna mod my 62 into a clip point. I believe it was bladite that about had a heart attack, haha.

*lol*

I don't entirely disagree - I mean, it's a thing meant to be closely modeled on a specific other iconic thing. Modifying it is like... what's the point? But I quite obviously wanted to see the result. :). I went back and forth on the ~4.75" vs. 5.25" version. Decided shorter looked better. Speaking of which, have to pull it out of temper right now!

Perhaps Horace's mythical brother should be named "Clifford", so we can have the Clip-hart/Cliphart/Cliffart pronunciation confusion, and be correct regardless. :p

Daizee, ALL of your mods always look great! Since I can now post pictures, I’ll share my modest mods:
