A while back in the "What did you do with your Becker today" thread, I posted that, while bored waiting on a well repairman, I threw one of my 9s at a stump. I readily admitted in the post that throwing such a high Rc treat knife was bad, many others agreed as did Ethan, who also admitted to throwing 4s back in the day.
BUT... the 9 actually flew pretty good for 1/2 spin and 1 spin, o what does an enterprising individual do?
Well, he goes out and learns how to use CorelDraw to design some throwing knives that vaguely resemble a 9, then he learns how to convert said CD files to FlowCut software to set up using a FlowJet waterjet unit to knock out some prototypes.
Here's the WJ set up ready to go after a non-cutting test pass to make sure I had everything set up correctly - didn't want to screw up a $300K machine.
Here's the 9 blades cut out but still on the cutting bed.
And here's the first 3 prototypes roughly based on a BK9.
Some basic grinding has been done on the edges, but all I have are hand files and grinding wheels, no belt grinder.
The 2 sets on the right are very similar to a 9, the left most set resembles a 9 only in length.
