Beckerhead Knife Making and Modification Thread

Thank bud!! I think it will be. I most excited about this one than the others I'm in the midst of making.

I'm going to try to. I was talking with the 710, Julio, and he suggested that i give it a shot. So I figured I'll try.

Anytime you want to talk 'tech', drop a line. Lots of helpful folk around here.
What steel are you starting with?

Sweet!! I will definitely use this resource!

Starting out with 1095, and I ordered some O1 last night too.

I recommend 1084 for home heat-treating (forge & oil), unless you have access to an electric kiln.

O1 obviously makes fabulous blades, but it really needs to soak at temperature for like 20 minutes before quench to get the most out of it. Otherwise you're paying for performance you're not getting.

Well I guess I'll have to send out my O1 for ht. I'm not sure I know anyone local with an electric kiln.

'cause there wasn't enough in the queue...

GSOM, with his family Solingen references, will get a kick out of this series of refurbishment shots:

reground the accordioned tip (shortened, gave it some belly), and replaced the brass-riveted rotted wood scales with slightly thicker white oak and stainless pins, bedded with marine epoxy. It feels WAY better in the hand with a little more girth and heft in the handle.

In the world! In the world!!! :D

(easily pleased)

Well, being easily pleased sure makes the world a nicer, more positive place to live.....since we all have to live on the world.........attitude is everything. How you perceive, so shall you see. And what I see, when I hold that blade in my hand, is a fair bit of craftsmanship in an extremely useful package.
