Beckerhead's Other Choppers

Finally found the time to take a pic to contribute to this thread. Here are my big boys...

SMATCHET!!!

Seriously, the cold steel version is a bit dangerous. The sheath sucks and it’s sharpened on both sides. Got to be extra careful putting it back in the sheath.

My other BIG(ish) knives:

Jarosz Choppa
RS6 Raven (wsk style knife)
Esee 6 & 5... ( don't really count as choppers)

I can use some more choices in the big knife department. :)

Shots of my mainstay BK-9 (1 of 4), still the reigning King, and it's Regent the venerable and unmistakable T.M. Hunt M18 (what a BEAST!) plus a decent chopper in it's own right the Condor K-Tac Kukri. Another pretty nice chopper in my collection is the Gerber Gator Golok Machete; with a full-tang 1/4 inch thick, 12 inch long blade and a very comfortable handle it's truly more of a chopper than a traditional machete. And not to be forgotten is my SOG Tigershark- it's 9 inch AUS 8 blade does an acceptable job as a chopper as well, though not in the same league as the others.

That Condor Looks Pretty Sweet

I posted some of my other choppers (name only, not pictures) a couple years ago...but I've put these two through the paces

On the bottom is the Ontario HD 22" machete. It gets a little heavy during extended use; but, when there's a lot of growth to clear, more effect per swing helps. I've used it on up to 4" trees (only did that once, just to see. At that thickness, an axe is a better choice). For thin growth - grab a different tool.
* Be careful when you get tired - the D ring hurts if you get sloppy, lol

On the top is the Cold Steel Magnum Kukri Machete. It is one of the few Cold Steel products I've ever owned...and the only one that I thought was worth keeping. If I remember correctly, it is a 17" blade. Best for live growth, not so good on dry dead stuff over 2 inches. Be advised, this comes without any edge to speak of...I'm talking so dull that if it didn't break a live stalk from force of impact, it bounced off without leaving a bite mark. I used an AccuSharp on it, and put it to work (yeah, I know this is a knife forum...but I did it, and I would do it again on a tool like this)
