Beer talk

I guess that was me, I think, I forgot what I sent ya.

Tonight a Rogue Brewer's Ale 2008, American Strong Ale, 750ml, 9% ABV. This is a good one, recommended.

Had this and some Dead Guy this weekend. The Dead Guy never fails to impress me, and is my favorite beer by far. Because of it, I'm always interested in Ales and picked up the new Bud American Ale tonight. It is surprisingly good, though simple. It is a little light tasting but still manages a hoppy flavor with some caramel. If they are able to put this out affordably and in larger quantities I think it will be a go-to choice for myself.

Have you had the Double Dead Guy?

Another one tonight, Brouwerij Straffe Hendrik / De Halve Maan, Brugse Zot, 12oz., 6% ABV, Belgian Pale Ale, a nice one.

I'm not the kind of guy who changes his practices, were they bad. I spend a large part of my time near the Scourmont abbey, Chimay, so for me it's Chimay bleue and from time to time the rare Westvleteren 12.

Dantzk if I had those beers widely available I'd just drink them too. :)
Last night I had dinner near a local brewery, O"SO. I had the Night Train Porter and it was very very good. I think I'm going to have to try their other beers. :)

Castle Milk Stout, mmmm nice. Would have been a better holiday if the @#@$ handn't had a Guiness Drought.

db,

You couldn't do better. Belgium rules the beer. I've travelled in many north european countries. Nothing like trappist belgian beers. Definately nothing.

Tonight a very nice Southern Tier Creme Brulee, Imperial Stout, 22oz. Bomber, 10% ABV. Goes down very easy, very tasty, highly recommended.

Tonight a brew from Brouwerij Van Steenberge N.V., Augustijn Ale, it's a Tripel, 750ml, 8% ABV, pretty tasty, not to spicy.

When I was in Europe baqck in the 80's, I had a couple of beers that knocked my head off....EKU 28 and Triple Grimburger. I'm not a big "sweet beer" fan. I really didn't aquire a taste for weissbier in Germany. I also don't like fruit in my beer and I don't want a beer that has ingredients that sound like something that some yuppie scum would order at Starbucks:D I like beer flavored beer...lol. I'm gglad someone mentioned Brooklyn Lager a few pages back. Thats some pretty darn good stuff. One beer that I used to buy on occasion way bakc when but haven't had for a while is Anchor Steam. Any of the big 5 Munich breweries suit my taste. Also, pretty much any of the bitters from the major brewers in the UK are nice. Any one have any favorite local or regional American"regular" beer? It has been a while, but I recall that Dixie wasn't half bad. I can't remember if I ever had any Pearl or Lone Star.

As a very young GI back in the mid-sixties, I learned to drink German beer in Germany.
Essentially never gave up. My tastes still run to flavorful, full-bodied brews, mostly in the pilsener or lager category.
I have generally not liked the heavier brews.

It's gotten to the point where if we're invited to a barbeque or something, I bring my own. Otherwise, around here, it's going to be Bud Light or one of those godawful condiment beers that keep popping up.

Of the brews available easily, I'm fond of Warsteiner, Sam Adams Boston Lager, Fat Tire, and that same company's ( New Belgium) new Blue Paddle.

There is much consternation locally with the takeover of Anheuser-Busch by InBev..... No one seems to know exactly what this portends for the iconic local brewer.

Blue Paddle is really good. A wheat beer that is really good is goose island 312. I haven't had a Sam Adam's that I disliked though

Tonight a nice Barleywine Style Ale from Santa Fe, Chicken Killer, 22oz. Bomber, 10% ABV.

Bottoms up everyone. Going to open a Wasatch Devastator a double bock today.

Tonight an exceptional brew from The Lost Abbey, The Angel's Share - Bourbon Barrel-Aged, 12.7oz, 12% ABV.
