Beer talk

For fellow Canuks, there is now an Innis & Gunn 2009 Canada Day special edition, "Canadian Cask". Supposedly, it will only be around until July. The beer is distilled in Canadian whisky casks. I had some this weekend and it's absolutely amazing. Possibly the best beer I have ever had. Check it out if you get the chance! At $5.00 / bottle, it's pricey, but it's a terrific sipping beer for a weekend afternoon.

All the best,

- Mike

A new one from Point Beer, Burly Brown. A pretty good brown ale not very complex, and is very easy to drink.

I like cold beer. I don't like the stuff that is bitter or has fuity taste or stuff that gets stuck in your teeth. In Scotland I had a beer called Caladonian that was one of my favorites. I like DosXX, and Yuengling (sp?) and Sam Adams as the usual favorites, just don't serve 'em warm! On a hot summer day there's almost nothing better.

Then you wouldn't really like the New Glarus Black Wheat I just had. A very nice and flavorful beer. I wouldn't want to make a night of drinking this one all night long but it is a darn good beer.

As a matter of fact I have 5 New Glarus's in an assortment in the fridge at this very moment. I drank the lager, And still have the Black Wheat, Uff Da, Dancing Man, Spotted Cow and Totally Naked to drink. That is funny you should mention that brand as my Wife bought them for me on a business trip to Minnesota last week.

NG is one of my favorite breweries. I've liked almost all their beers. Let us know what you think of them after you've tried them.

Let's re-vive this thread.

This afternoon having a very nice brew from Rogue, Imperial Porter 2008, if you can get your hands on some, do it.

Had this nice brew from Denmark yesterday - the Schopenhauers Vilje, by Djaevleberg Brewery:

Nice foamy head, very fragrant. Deep golden/light brown color. Hoppy at first (pine needles), then the semi-sweet malty caramel competes with the bitterness until you swallow...then the hops are back, and stays with you for a good 5-8 minutes. 500ml is my favorite format; I feel like I'm getting free gulps :D It might be somewhat hard to find, but worth the effort in my book.

I have other specimens from this brewery so more to come...

I just consumed a Big Band brew at Oreganos from our local Four Peaks Brewery in Tempe AZ. MMMMM, tasty .

Having a awesome brew today, Big Sky Olde Bluehair, it's an American Style Barleywine.

Just had to chime in with this one. Mikkeller Black, 17.5% ABV, not a bad brew, but it is hot, ABV pretty up front, definitely a sipper.

Had Newcastle on tap and this is a very different and good beer when it isn't skunked. I don't think I have ever had a bottle of this that wasn't skunked. A real shame.
