Beer talk

Bells O-fest and NewGlarus Staghorn O-fest last night. Both very good but I think NG Staghorn is the better one.

Today a Schouffe Double IPA Triple - yeah, that's right! The Saaz, Tomahawk and Amarillo hops give this one quite a bitter punch! Still you get the distinctive Belgian yeast flavor profile, and the sweet malts. A nice balance. 9% abv they say??? No way! Went down like a marguarita on a sunny beach. Highly recommended! Especially with a BBQed Sirloin steak

Another O-fest shootout tonight. Ayinger vs the NG Staghorn. Ayinger gave a good shot at it a very good beer but NG comes out on top again.

The Chouffe stuff is pretty good.

Have you tried the deRanke Bitter XXX, also a micro-brew from Belgium? It claims to be the most bitter beer from Belgium-- but it is pretty tame for here. Although it is a very good, very smooth brew.

Another O-fest side by side drink off, Hacker pschorr and New Glarus. They are both great tasting beers. I couldn't pick one over the other.

I drink Alpine wich is brewed in my hometown or Molson Cold shots. They're small beers that are brewed extra strong (more alcohol than most).I drink a pile of those over a summer.8 of them in a case.

Guinness 250 is a very nice brew, a little more carbonation and a less syrupy feel than the version you get in the store over here. Makes me look forward to the Fall.

Czech Budvar and Kirin. Neither of which is imported into the U.S. The Kirin available here is brewed by AB, and is completely different.

Central Waters O-fest. Not one of my favorites. Too much of a earthy spice flavor to it.

Tonight an Anchor Old Foghorn Barleywine style Ale. Pretty good sipper after the dinner!:thumbup:
