Beer talk

Point Belgian White was on Sale. I was very surprised at just how good it was. Better than Blue Moon in my opinion. Its going to be a beer I will get often, very drinkable.
The White Biere is one of my favorites from Point.

How does the Horizon Wheat compare to other Hefeweizens such as Leinie's Summer Wheat?

Today I'm having a Stone 12th Anniversary Bitter Chocolate Oatmeal Stout, very tasty.

I've only had the Horizon Wheat on tap at the brewery. So I really cann't compare it to any others.
This weekend was a Spotted Cow weekend thanks to one of my brother inlaws. A very welcomed beer since at the inlaws is only the cheapest beer they can find.

Celis White and Anchor Steam
I think it is cool that knife nuts seem to gravitate toward good beers.
I gues taste is taste.

My gawd, where to begin!

If I'm out somewhere that doesn't have much of a selection, I'll go with Guinness, even if they don't tap it properly (most don't).

For Alaska brews, I'm a fan of Silver Gulch amber, from Fox Alaska, America's northern most brewer. I'm presently loving Midnight Sun's (Anchorage) Fallen Angel. I've found that almost anything with a devil on the lable is amazing, if to be consumed with caution. If any of you want to try some of our local stuff, they all have websites (I'm such a proponent I'd offer to send it myself, but I'm sure I'd be violating any number of liquor laws). Bottom line; we like to drink up here, and our local brews reflect that. For my 40th birthday a couple years ago, we had a keg of Moose's Tooth Apple Ale, which is what I always get when I go there for a natural angus burger and garlic/cilantro fries.

If you haven't tried Land Shark Lager yet, I've recently discovered it and can't recommend it enough for a light, hot-weather beer. It's what Corona should've been. Great for a hot day doing yard work, or playing beach volleyball.

One word for you; Aventinus.

Do a search, and all shall become clear(until you drink a few of them, that is)

:D

New Belgium Brewery in Ft Collins, CO-most known for Fat Tire Ale-has a couple of new ones out. Old Cherry, a belgian trappist style ale is very good and is 6.5% alcohol. 2 Below is a winter ale that is my favorite domestic brew and is 6.6%.

I must add that my all time favorites are St Andrews Ale from Belhaven Brewery in Scotland and Ul Ale from Aass Brewery in Norway.

Did you guys hear that Budweiser is coming out with an American copper ale? I read a couple of reviews from an advance tasting and nobody raved about it, mostly because of the rather non-agressive hop schedule being overwhelmed by the malt fruitiness, but most reviewers thought it was a positive step for Budweiser, and sort of reassuring that the new owner of Anheuser-Busch is looking in the right direction. I believe it is hopped with Cascade hops.

having the Leinie Sunset Wheat tonight. Kind of has a soapy aftertaste for me. Like to try some Ten Fidy Imperial Stout sometime.

Tonight a very nice brew, Saint Arnold Divine Reserve #5. If you like RIS, you will love this one.

Kind of on a Central Waters kick. Picked up a 6 of both the Glacier Trail IPA and Satin Solstice Imp. stout. The stout was very tasty, I cann't wait to try the IPA.

Yup, Satin Solstice is awesome. Checkout the Coffee Stout, I hear it's also very tasty.

The Coffee stout is probably one of my Favorites. I really need to hunt some more of it down. What is everyone getting for this weekend?

Living so close to the Germany and Belgium border I get the best of both worlds. Lately it has been Trappist beers mostly Westvleteren, Rochefort and Chimay. I just bought a shitload to cellar. I guess I'll see in five years hows they are. But right now it's a Chimay blue 2008.
