Beer talk

Tonight a delicious Green Flash Double Stout. Everything I've had by them is very nice, highly recommended.

Last night had an old stand by great one, Guinness. Yeah I know many say there are better stouts but I do love a Guinness from the tap.

I recently got a 6 of Hales (bottle conditioned) out of Seattle. Impressive overall. The PAC NW brewers sure make good beer.

I've heard of them, but never tried them out. I've had another brewery up there Dick's, very tasty and very inexpensive brew's, tell me where you can get a Tripel for under $2 for a 12oz.

I'm drinking Dos Equis right now (I'm actually pretty drunk).

The first beer I ever had was Bud Light, and I thought for a long time that beer was disgusting. But I'd never had good beer.

I think I realized that beer was actually good the first time I had Beck's Dark. And now it doesn't even seem like a good beer. I'm a fan of Tilburg's Dutch Brown and most of the Highland's beers are good, especially the Oatmeal porter when it's on tap. Gaelic Ale is good anytime, but their Oatmeal Porter on tap is the best beer I've ever had.

All of the Sweetwater stuff I've had is good too, especially the 420.

I like Magic Hat no. 9 too, but the thought of apricot beer sickened me at first... until I tasted it.

Blue Moon has become one of my favorite "mass produced" beers lately, and their seasonal offerings are all pretty good. Same with Sam Adams, but I don't really like regular Sam Adams.

I'll spend more on a six pack that most people do on a case. I don't usually drink too much, so I can justify a $10 six pack.

One of my favorite places in the world is Barley's Taproom in Asheville, North Carolina. They've got a wonderful selection of imports and locally brewed stuff. It's fun to go in and try a few different things every time we're downtown.

There's a little brewery here in Sylva that I've driven past everyday for the past three years, but have yet to visit.

PS I like beer, a lot.

After really liking the Stone Bitter Chocolate Oatmeal Stout, I picked up a bomber of their Imperial Russian Stout: and dayuuuum! Really good stuff, it's exactly how I like stouts to taste, not as much chocolate in it as some others(which is my preference b/c I dislike chocolate in general), but it's there supporting the more apparnet coffee taste. Definently got better as it warmed up in my hand, it will make for some enjoyable evenings in the winter and fall, as I have a couple bottles hanging out in the back of the fridge now.

I'm looking foward to trying Stone's Ales soon.

Stone is very good. The RIS is awesome, I've had a 05, 06, 07, waiting for the 08 to come out. I just traded away an 06.

Also, right now I'm having a Surly Bender, check them out, awesome brew's in a can.

Stopped at Point Brewery last night for their Brews, Brats, and bands picnic. Had a few of their Horizon Wheat and Oktoberfest. I much prefered the Okt. The brats were mighty tasty too. :)

This afternoon, a very tasty Captain Lawrence Smoke From The Oak (Wine Barrel Aged).

I got ahold of the Stone vertical 08/08/08 over the weekend. It's sort of a strange brew, but is still really good. I'll try a few more bottles of it, and of course lay one away to go with the rest of them :)

I have two bottles of the Stone Vertical Epic 08-08-08, have not try it yet, but have heard good things so far. It's a Belgian Strong Pale Ale, 8.4% ABV.

Right now I'm having a Stoudt's Fat Dog, awesome as usual.

I had a couple of bottles of Magic Hat #9 Saturday night. It is OK, better than middle-of-the-road, a bit fruity. I was expecting a more pronounced hop character than what I got. I wasn't disappointed, but I wasn't impressed either - and I certainly wouldn't turn one down if one of you guys were buying - but I'll try something different next weekend.

Tonight it was another from Central Waters, a very tasty Happy Heron. It made me very happy. :)

I really am mostly a dark beer stout kind of guy, but I'm really digging all these Pale ales.

I picked up a case of Blue Moon tonight before I left work... we've got it on sale for $10.99. As much as I like it, I haven't had it in a while, so it's a nice treat.

It pains me to admit it, but I do like Miller High Life... I think it tastes like Cap'n Crunch cereal. Sometimes I get High Life just to remember the days of scrounging around the dorm room for enough change to buy a 40. It's not often though, it's a bit overly carbonated for my tastes.

And there will always be a special little place in my heart for PBR.

Point Belgian White was on Sale. I was very surprised at just how good it was. Better than Blue Moon in my opinion. Its going to be a beer I will get often, very drinkable.
