Benchmade Model 805 with M390 Blade Steel

The barrel spacers It went back and forth during design discussion.
Satin Silver, then Blue for a couple days, ended up silver on this one.
This will be one classy knife.

Also, it is "Sculptured" G-10 like the Russian 805 but in Black, rather than Blue.

Looking forward to this one!

This is gonna be one good looking knife.

IMO anything but the solid delrin backspacer is good. I've converted my 710s and 705s to barrel spacers. I like the look and I like being able to clean/flush the knife out more easily.

Ohhh..... this is gonna be SWEET!!!! Every since I got my sebenzas the only other folding knife I was going to keep was my benchmade ares, but I have always loved the look of the TSEK, and the russian made one especially! It will be a keeper.

I wish the handle scales were the same as on the Russian edition... :grumpy:
Nevertheless, I think some more spending is in order :D

By the way, since this knife is a result of the forumite's request, how do I get a LE knife going?
I'd love to see BM913 in axis lock version with a fancy steel (M390 would be nice), drilled out stainless steel liners and different handle scales from the production model (color or texture or both). I have 710-1 and it has the same scales as a production 710 which I find a bit of the letdown for a LE knife.
I've EDC'd 913 for 2+ years and I loved the knife and hated it at the same time. It was/is small (compared to 710), light, great design and when it was closed almost no blade protrusion from the handle, great strong blade with the nice shape. But I hated Nitrous assist mechanism which makes the handle weak, had problems opening it especially with the left hand. Finally I replaced it with 710 and I just love the axis lock. I loved 913 (sold) and would like to see it combined with axis.

This 805 started on the Benchmade community forum. Perhaps head over there to see if you can find other interested parties. To get a LE knife like this 805, you need to get a dealer to sign on and order something like a minimum of 200 or some other minimum amount. I dont know how popular the 913 is, but I imagine it would be great with an axis. I think the LEs that are doing the best are made on popular discontinued and current models with upgraded steel etc.

Dang...so close to my dream knife. Drop blade length by half an inch and make it a mini-806 and it would be perfect.

Hope whoever gets in on it likes it :D

I pulled the trigger on the 805 LE a few minutes ago--this, THIS is a knife from Benchmade I can get excited about.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of Benchmade and have my fair share of them, but I guess lately I've been feeling as if I'd collected most of the currently available production models I'm interested in, and kind of left trying to find something in their lineup to get me motivated.

There's still plenty of dico'd models, but that's always catch as catch can.

I think this one is going to go down as one of the best Benchmades ever.

Best,

Agree 100%.
This will be one classy knife.
SS liner, brushed SILVER back spacer's, clip and Axis lock not to mention the Satin M390 blade & Sculptured Black G-10.

The one per person limit has just been lifted, as those on the BM forum got theirs.
These should move quickly now.
Its only on 2 forums to my knowledge, so if your thinking about it, now's the time.

As to future LE's, 2011 should be a banner year!

Enjoy!

For a cool blade..................
Just not done talking about this one! :p

Don't think there is much more to say. We have seen the pics, they looks just like the russian forum knives, except with all black sculpted handles. We know the steel.... it is an awesome knife. I am sure that this thread will blow up once everyone receives the knifes..

It might be my imagination but it feels as if the Benchmade M390 isn't as crisp as another companies. Has anybody got a reading on the hardness yet?

Yes, It sharpens fine and takes a great edge. I've gotten to like it better than S30V in some ways. IMO, Elmax loves to do the really sharp stuff more than S30V, or M390. No, It sure doesn't have the carbide fraction to last through hard wear like M390, but it's sure a breeze to get really, really sharp.

Just some opinions. I like them all in their own ways.

BM runs their M390 at 60.5 RC, had my 710-1 RC tested.
