Benchmade Model 805 with M390 Blade Steel

Just received an LE 710 in M390 -- very nice, fit and finish are excellent, blade is centered and opens smoothly like any axis that's set up right. Probably not sharp enough for some of the peeps on bladeforums, but sharp enough for me :)

60.5 HRc -- I was hoping for more than that too. 62 seems to be a sweet spot . . . I wonder why BM went to the low end?

Production knives and bulk HT.

My understanding is that M390 isn't easy to HT to 62 RC, the tempering process is pretty involved so we will see them around 60 RC in production knives.

Well..... I couldn't hold out any longer. I was actually hoping these 805's would sell out. So what did I do? Went and ordered it and the black 710 too. Dam, I gotta slow down!! These new steels are just too tempting especially when you put a little use on some of these lower end steels and have to sharpen DAILY.

Yep, between the 710, the 805 on order and the M4 RSK & mini, my M2 blades (both 710 and Ritter) are officially retired -- cleaned, oiled and back in their boxes. For some reason I keep my 154CM BM 940 for EDC -- hmmm, really need an M390 BM 940 . . .

i have been hoping this knive would have sold out already. i really don't need another knife but i'm so tempted to order this one. idk how much longer i will be able to hold out.

ok i wanted one more knife.. i'm ordering it with an esee rc4

b4 i order can someone who has owned one let me know if the handle is comfy?
and is the thumb rest high enough so it allows you to extend the thumb up in a good position without forcing you to move your hand down?

These G-10 Textured scales have only been on the Russian 805 L/E.
(Of all the 805-806's produced)
(All 200 Blue Textured 805's are in Russia) {Or most anyway}
Did you see post 28 on this thread? Very good shots of the Russian LE.
This will be the same but in Black.

Very comfy scales. Here is a shot of mine in CF.
Should be very similar.

Has there been any more info/confirmation as to what the scales will look like/whether the scales will be like this Russian edition? I see the post above saying that they will be like this only in black but Ive yet to hear a confirmation from the vendor, or anyone else.

This is from the vendor's website:

weird, for some reason I just get a red X instead of that photo on the website. Must be my browser or something, but thanks for the heads up!

Their site says that the knives were shipped at the end of this past week, Thurs/Fri ? Also that they will be instock between the 22nd to 28th. I had to email Ashley and have mine put on hold until Jan. as I have a custom folder incoming this coming week.

Benchmade apparently put the wrong scales (untextured) on these so they're going back to Benchmade to have the correct scales put on.

KW web page for the 805 seems to have been taken down. I can't find it thru the new arrivals link or with a search.

Yep, they updated the picture to an actual model, it looked like, and then took the knife off of the site altogether shortly after.
