I was itching to finally test out my blood groove grinding attachment. I didn't feel like messing around practicing with scraps, so I made a quick sketch on a piece of W2 and went for it. This piece will have a curved blood groove, long swedge, tapered tang, distal taper, and a hamon... something will have to go wrong.

Agreed - it’s lame!

The two I own came from Hoffman’s lottos. There are others I’d really like to have, but I can’t get them via simply ordering, so they’d also need to be won via lotto.

I like Liam a lot. He makes great tools and some of the knives he has turned out are masterpieces (albeit a bit fancy for me). Despite the hiccups he has had trying out various business models, seems like he has been receptive to some constructive criticism.

Still, next to impossible to get one direct and the secondary market is insane. For a tool that I would be beating on like mad, I can get stellar options from other makers or even in production offerings in a fraction of the time and cost.

Wish him all the best though, he does make excellent stuff.
