best knifes under 10 dollars

Olfa snap off knife at home depot.
Best quality disposable blades out there.
Add another $4 for a pack of 30 blades and you're $2 over your budget but can cut with a clean new blade for quite some time.

( world's best 20$ modern folder is the buck 482 ) , .

Sure it is. Linerless ,with slick, hardly textured scales that flex when gripped hard. A one position pocket clip that cannot be removed to bend back when it loses tension(and it will). Non adjustable pivot, pinned construction, a hollow grind that chips easily when actually used.

I'd take a Spyderco Byrd any day

And yah..... I own and have used a 482.

Dude if your house is on fire just open the window. Don't go searching for a glass breaker.

This by a long shot...

Any folding/fixed blade knife for $10 is way over-priced for what it is.

Good assessment. Pay the extra $5 (so $25 all together) and get the Utilitac 2 or Rat 1. Seriously, if you can't afford a $25 knife you need to make better spending and/or life choices. And OP, a painted black S&W knife is a mall ninja knife. FYI.

I carried my buck 482 every single day for 2 years without issue. Your knife must've been a lemon, because my blade has never chipped, and if the grind and Steel were a problem buck would've changed something by now.
It's a lightweight edc duty knife that's made in america with a great steel, and only costs 20$ .
It's not meant to be a pry bar, or a chisel and will serve you well if used properly.

As far as I'm concerned there no other knife as good for 20$, and I'm not gonna spend more money to get something made overseas that's not backed by bucks warranty 👍

I think you quoted the wrong poster.

Take your 482 and whittle on a chunk of seasoned oak.

Get back to me on your edge.

I'm all for a USA made blade, I carry an Emerson.

But if you think a 482 beats an import with a muti position clip, liners, bronze washers, g10,adjustable pivot, screw construction, Spyderco (Byrd) warranty, comparable steel(Buck's 420hc isn't magic you know) at the same price point...You are living in a dream world.

yep buddy, your right. im not too much for the mall ninja thing like some people. no offence meant to anyone if thats your thing, just not mine really too much. i just figured the knife would make a good blade to leave in my car just incase or maybe in my house incase it caught fire and i needed to break out a window or something. the seatbelt cutter and glass spike on the end would be handy. prolly wouldn't carry it much because thats what my smith and wesson is for. the hard stuff.:)

I certainly wouldn't trust that knife (or a S&W) for any life saving type tasks. Plus if you're not going to carry it then it wouldn't do you any good anyways in those types of situations.

Are we REALLY thinking this guy is serious?
He needs a seat belt cutter and a glass breaker just in case his house is ablaze??
Interesting........but not believable.
And once again.....sigh

No I dont think he/she is serious. If my life has any chance depending on one tool, I will not bet with only 10 dollars. Heck, even for my fingernails, I do not.

If my house is ablaze, i'd be frantically calling the fire department while scrambling for whatever cash and valuables I can get my hands on before fleeing the hell out of there.

And if i were living in a small apartment, why the heck will i want to break my windows if there's a fire? So that I can add more oxygen to the flames and fall seven stories down the block to my death in an escape attempt? No thanks.

Thank you for posting that so I didn't have to....

So would my sigh be a triple sigh? "I'm not into mall ninja stuff and I make fun of other people for it but I don't really know what it means. This S&W tactical painted black knive with a glass breaker/seat belt cutter that says swat on the blade holds an edge foreevvveeerrrrrr......Molecular bonded paint you know".

As a collector (no, hoarder is probably a better word) of S&W and Schrade folders, I'm a bit offended by that.

They cut extremely well for a $15 knife, are good enough to be used in my bi-annual reservist training, and look quite nice as well.

I think the byrd is too wide for its size, and doesn't carry deep enough.
The buck 482 doesn't need liners because it's not meant to be a heavy duty knife.
Traditional folders use a pined construction, and if it wasn't good enough they would've stopped a long time ago.
The buck 482 is a lightweight edc knife not a survival tool or pry bar, and if all you need to do is cut stuff it's a great option.
You may prefer a heavier duty knife, but that doesn't make it a bad knife.
I didn't say it was better than the Byrd, but I don't think the Byrd is better than the 482 either.

Not being able to take the knife apart sucks. Sorry but being the best $20 knife (in a $10 knife competition) doesn't mean a lot when a $25 knife is way better.
