I made these two for the kids. Steel rod bent to shape in a vise.
large size elastic bands.
Ammo -Macadamia nuts-spherical, even sized, rock hard nut.
they could be improved upon but for the kids they work great.
Rufus Hussey-the champ.

IMO; All of them are made for the finger support stile of shooting. The Hathcock is a little more dedicated to the side shooting stile. All are first class slingshots.
First thing you have to figuer out is how you want to grip the slingshot. Finger supporting the forks, or like a hammer. One is not better than the other just different.

Have a Bikermike slingshot inbound-1/4 aluminum with flat bands. What are you guys using for ammo and wheres your source? Currently using dollar store marbles and 3/8 steel balls .375 caliber.$4 for 70rds. Whats your preferred ammo for can destroying and small game hunting?

40 and 44 caliber lead I mold myself. Any scrap lead, like tire weights will mold great slingshot ammo. If you prefer steel, 3/8s is fine for target shooting and bird hunting but is a little light for other hunting, 7/16 better and 1/2 is better yet. Chris

Hi August West,

Yes I made the pouch myself! The slingshot is made by somebody else though.

Thanks and best regards,

l.

Hi Chris,

Thanks, I really take this as a compliment.
I have only made two of these and I am all self taught and not very experienced. I would not feel comfortable to sell one to be honest because they have their flaws and imperfections. As I don't really have a work routine I tend to spend many hours on one. I am sure that one of the great leatherworkers of this forum can provide you with something like this, made with professional routine and craftmanship. If you want I can send you detailed pictures and measurements.

Thanks, don't sell yourself short, it looks very well made and the little flaws and imperfections are what give it character and show that it is hand made, well done. Chris

I am interested in getting a slingshot but have a question that hopefully someone here can help.

Is there any advantage/disadvantage to having the rubberband flat or tubed shaped??

Thx.

Marbles and 3/8" steel are good target and plinking rounds. Hunting rounds should have more mass (.44 cal lead, 7/16" and 1/2" steel)
Heres a link for the best price on steel shot, Has a 25 pound minimum and you need to call them on the phone for slingshot grade.
