Photos Best Slipjoint of 2017 List (Give Away)

2017 was an incredible year for knives...tough to pick just one but my personal favorite was this Desert Ironwood 66 Stockman in Tidoute trim.

The first knife I was ever given was a yella Case Sodbuster Jr - somewhere around my 7th or 8th birthday.
My uncle gave it to me and he, my brother and I all had the same knife (Uncle's was the big sodbuster though)

I think my uncle had to give them to us at that age because my mom would have given my dad grief continuously - My uncle got to leave at the end of the day. ;)

I lost that knife several years back and haven't replaced it with another sodbuster pattern until this year because i've always had a bunch of "traditional" pocket knives.

Once I got my hands on my first 71 bullnose several months ago, it brought back a lot of memories - it's just a bit different - and have now accumulated a few more... the patina'd O1 steel model just showed up yesterday - bought on the exchange here. (thx bladeforums)

On the down side (or upside) depending on if I'm referring to my renewed interest in traditional knives or my bank account, it was the gateway drug into the world of GEC for me and is my go-to for outdoor activity and rough work.

So, all that is what makes it my 2017 knife of the year.

Very good choice too! It was only just pipped to my post by the Churchill, I have a beautiful 38 in Bocote, but a good Stag one would be a user and might just have made it to No.1 Just didn't get hold of any Stag though...:(

20171105_093010.jpg Thanks for the chance Mike! I was bummed when i found out of missed the Green Banana Bone Churchills!

I really liked the Roundhead, and I'm unreasonably excited a out the Shuffler, but for me the knife of the year is the GEC 66 stockman. Such a classic, well executed knife! I've read the grumbling about the slow secondaries, but I'd prefer some break in over wobbly blades any day!

I'm going to have to go with my Boker razor jack. I like the jigging pattern on this one over the other Boker razor jacks I have seen. But what makes it my best of 2017 is that I picked this one up the day my wife and I found out that we had been chosen to be adoptive parents. One day it will be our little girls first knife.
