Hahaha, you have to be kidding? You think that is a challenge? Here are a few 4" Kwaikens in M2.
You act like this is a hard thing lol

Nice knives  BUT we want to see how you get there ..in which gear you drive that bicycle to get there :p
We have written enough here. Finally, listen to what this man has to say about this topic. I completely agree with every word in this video.

Jigs are fine, but to claim a person can not master free hand grinding is kooky.
Don t twist my words ! I never said that .I said that someone will NEVER master it ! Like your bicycle or car we drive .We all know to drive them , but not everyone of us will become Michael Schumacher !

I said it was kooky to say "someone will never master it"

All evidence goes against that.

The fact is, it just is not that difficult.

Hahaaa, you just discovered Mike Snody, I am the one who told you about him when you wondered by people were not doing hollow chisel grinds. You had no idea about all the people doing them.

I have been following him for a decade.
Mike is a highly accomplished free hand grinder btw. He chooses to use a jig, he does not have to.

As many have said there is nothing wrong with using a jig.
Your anti free hand grind campaign is just silly

You have to use a jig because you do not know how to free hand grind and because of this you want to convince others to not to learn how to.

When you post bad information here, you will get called out for it.

I post my work here all the time, you just have not been paying attention. Many here will remember when I started making knives 10+ years ago.

I posted a picture of my M2 knives as requested.
Now post your picture of your M2 blades.

I have no idea how you came to that conclusion. What I defend is that for beginner is better to start learn grinding with jig ..........just that !It is free world , let each find his own way .I chose the jig, it’s easier, it’s faster, it’s safer, it’s more accurate, repeatable , less chance of making mistakes....etc
BTW .....I can grind free hand , i never said that i can t :p
Challenge is still open , for everyone on this forum and from whatever other place .I claim that i will grind that blade faster and with more accurate geometry then anyone grinding free hand :p

Come on....almost all knives i show here are M2 ,M35 ,M42 ...T1 ...................I chosse M2 for challenge because it is not simple carbon steel .....which can be grind in one pass .

Hahahahaa. Tell that to Steve Johnson when you attempt a Loveless Big Bear sub hilt fighter LOL. You can google all of that .

so we talking single bevel or double bevel?? i got a couple blades to grind out ..ill time it ... or you want M-2 /M42/T1 got those too... might have to make a new leather cutting knife ,or donate it to someone in need (just a ground blade)

More wrong information, who is grinding carbon steel blade in 1 pass?
Americans :) Why they take every sentence literally ? I just wanted to emphasize that there is a big difference between grinding 52100, 1095 and HSS steel, and you know that I m sure .But you like to twist things :D

Both stubborn as hell...

It is about putting out bad information.

People moan and groan about how Youtube is on having bad info, well we should have a higher standard here.

The fact is there are less and less experience makers here on shop talk and if bad information is left unchallenged it does not help.

Free hand grinding is possible for a newbie to learn. It is a valuable skill as a knife maker and does not pigeon hole a maker in their knifemaking. To tell people to give up trying, and it " can not be mastered" simply is the cry of someone who gave up

N Natlek - the problem is the way you say things - "Don't listen to that advice that learning to grind free hand is something special , learning free hand grinding is just a waste of time." - Instead of this you could express your opinion like a normal , reasonable person and the guy can read the information and make a decision if he wants to learn freehand or not. If jigs are the most optimal way of your type of knives - that's awesome , but don't be like - "Everyone should do what I do , It's the best thing"

Cheers
