Beverages and Blades - Traditional of Course

I’ve been away for far too long to comment on everything I’d like to, but there are a few posts I couldn’t let pass by....

I haven’t been a big fan of the American-brewed Kölsch-style ales I’ve tried, but, Taylor and Will, you’ve convinced me that I need to seek out an authentic Kölsch. I’ll get on that. ;)

Dagnabit, there you go again making me drool over both your drink and your Pocket Chef. Do you deliver? ;) :D

David, I always enjoy your pub posts and stories of Real Ale. Thank you so much for posting them!

As for me, I’m enjoying a summery IPA that I hadn’t tried before:

That Kolsch was amazing. A co-worker of mine actually went to that brewery when he was stationed in Germany while in the Army. He said it was amazing!

I'm afraid that the appeal of these sour beers is lost on me o_O

I can say that I am not a terribly big fan of sour beers myself. I have had a couple of fruit based Lambics that have been excellent but otherwise I tend to stay away from them.

I had this one the other day and forgot to post a pic. This is a hefty beer. 11%!!!!

I'm with you JB...the sours hold no appeal.
Give me malty beer any day.
So anyway if you cast your mind back a few years you will doubtless remember the politically Incorrect tv comedies of the late 60s and 70s....e.g. " Love thy neighbour" and "Are you being served?"
There was a trend to cash in on the British expat viewers residing in Australia..these people were generally known as whinging Poms or Pommie Bast##ds
In order to effect the cultural transition of Mrs Slocombes jokes about her pet cat being frozen solid into Australian they simply tacked the term "Down Under" on to the title of the show. This immediately gave it an Aussie flavour and everyone thought they were getting something new..
So without further ado I'm proud to announce Yeoerkshuh Day Down Under.

I shared these with a good mate o no e last night. Oh the malty gently hopped goodness of the India ale.
But the piece d' resistance was the Organic Lager. Thoroughly recommended.
Here shown with my Sheffield bowies.
Cheers.

Hey Dwight
All Sheffield but all different makers.
And the thing I like best...
All different handle material
Leather
Antler
Horn and bone.
Those are super nice fixed blades Jon. Does "Sheffield Bowies" imply all by one maker or does it just mean they were all made in Sheffield but could be by various makers?

Fantastic! :) Thanks a lot for that mate  I don't drink a lot of lager, but that is definitely quality, I have enjoyed it a few times :)

I love sour, malty or hoppy...just depends on what I'm in the mood for....this is a real different IPA with hints of coconut and pineapple...I had to try it. Still not sure what I think. I liked the can art!!!

After a fun morning.....

I unwound this afternoon.

Had a morning just like that a few years ago. Started with one stuck tractor. Then the morning turned into afternoon and there were three ever larger tractors in a row immobile. Just before dark a 40' diesel wrecker anchored to and setting on anchor plates cabled a smaller wrecker out subsequently freeing the remaining three tractors. A day older, a wee bit wiser, and much poorer. As I recollect that evening ended with a few brews.......... :(;):):D

:D That sounds as quite an exercise  Turns out all the alcohol had evaporated out of this ancient bottle, quite a deception :(

Yeah, they're pretty wild too! My back is a bit sore, so I hope they're going to be gentle with me! Swindle! Hope you can get a refill my friend ;)

Wow, the horn on that Lambsfoot looks great. And some interresting beers your showing :thumbsup:

Thanks Mark :)
