Beverages and Blades - Traditional of Course

Just finished some pecan brittle. Fixing to start a pecan brown ale.

I had that beer two years ago when visiting my in-laws in Caldonia, Mississippi! I really enjoyed that beer!

Sonoma is the home of the craft beer revolution...New Albion Ale back in late 1970s (even Sam Adams Brewery acknowledges that fact).

Er, ah . . Anchor Steam in 1971 in San Francisco (originally established in 1896). Agreed that it outgrew craft status.

A beer amongst friends is the finest beer out there.

Truer word have never been spoken.

I have been knocking back this rye from a local distillery. It isn't bad at all, goes down pretty easy. However, I have heard their Bourbon style whiskeys are better so I will be trying one of those next.

That's the spirit, Dylan!! And a very smooth picture, pal.

This one is great too!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I've not seen that one before, Del. Thanks for sharing!

These are the only Cubans I indulge in, now. (knife content)

I liked the Nicaraguans, too, Jeff. Your Cuban collection is SMOKIN'!!

Don't know how to quote a multi-quote...responding to Duckdog on craft beers and Anchor Steam. I was/am perhaps splitting hairs because Anchor Steam was an existing local brewery that Fritz Maytag bought because folks were afraid it was going to close (I think back in 1960s). I am a huge fan of Anchor Steam and all that Fritz Maytag did for beer....I even put a Beer Scout Beer Club pin on my Anchor Steam hat....I'll gladly not split hairs and give Fritz his due.

Nice choice, Jer, I'm a big fan of rye. This one's pretty good.

In my youth I tried to affect rye whiskey, because I'd heard my dad say you don't see it much west of Buffalo, and I'm a mysterious and exotic Easterner.
It didn't take, though, because Jim Beam and Old Overholt both seemed to seize my esophagus behind my sternum in a hot iron grip. Either my throat has changed, or Ezra Brooks does something differently. Anyway, I'm glad I tried this one.

This bourbon (with natural flavors) is so cheap they don't even bother with the alarm-sounding caps.

Wonderful photo David. I envy you your trains my friend. Safe travels.

Thanks Dwight. It was the City of Wells locomotive at the East Lancashire Railway, a heritage railway in the county of Lancashire. There's a bar in the old station building so you can sit and watch the trains go back and forth. That was a pint of very tasty Hophurst Campfire mild.

Thanks for the link David. Great history on the 34092. I have never seen or heard of a locomotive being transported over the road here. Forgetting to drain 14 tons of water before transport ...  o_O :D

Yeah some heritage railway lines in this country aren't connected to the mainline railway network so locos have to be shipped by road. East Lancs actually is now though. But forgeting to empty the water  that's just our half-arsed bodge job way of doing things over here... :D

It's called the Trackside Bar in the old Bolton Street station in Bury. 30 minute tram journey out of Manchester.
