Beverages and Blades - Traditional of Course

Thanks, Todd. :) The slimline trapper is one of several pocket knives I keep in the kitchen to use for food prep, so it gets plenty of chances to work on its patina.

Sounds like my beer preferences are closer to those of your wife, rather than you. My favorites tend to be darker: porters, stouts, bocks, amber ales, Scotch ales, even lagers with some color such as Killian's Irish Red or Sam Adams Boston Lager. I also like the American versions of Oktoberfest beers, which tend to be more amber and less golden than the current German festbiers. Not really a wheat beer fan, nor do I care for fruity/hazy/hoppy brews. I usually keep some IPAs in the fridge, but probably drink at most one per week.

Yep, you are certainly right about that. My bitter level is around 35-40 IBUs. That said, I enjoyed a Two Hearted Ale on draft last night at dinner, but only because they were out of Oberon. 😊 I didn’t take a knife picture because the restaurant was very crowded and I did want to cause an issue.🙄

I have many friends who've enthusiastically recommended to me both Bell's Two Hearted Ale and Oberon, but neither is a favorite of mine. Here's what I drank with supper last night:

Going with the budget sipper and budget edge 😆

Can't always enjoy the finer things in life but life ain't bad if I can have one of these once in a while!

Cheers and happy Friday to everyone!

Because ANY kind of Bourbon is expensive here - from 38 USD upwards a 70cl bottle, I find the Evan W very acceptable stuff and enjoy it when I can.

Have a single blade small version of that RR Barlow and I must say, RR makes a very good small knife, the larger patterns not so much I find.

Thanks, Will

Indeed! I'm overcome with envy at your opportunity JP :p Red & Whites. Hope your trip is enjoyable otherwise too, go there on the Moto?

Thanks, Will
No bike for me since my left eye still has an erratic vision. My daughter drove me, I borrowed her car's boot .😀
The côte st Jacques is a very local wine, the northest in Burgundy and one of the smallest (less than 13ha for 3 producers) producing the local burgundian grape varieties, mostly pinot for red and a few chardonnay (btw, Chardonnay is a village near Mâcon) white.
Very different of his neighbour Chablis (and much less expensive , too!) I prefer the not-Côte-st-Jacques-AOC white, fresh, the lighter 2020 (13°) makes for a wonderful kir!

We have grape vines growing on the fence along the alley that runs on one side of our yard. Here are a couple of photos from Sunday. I noticed while I was digging in the garden next to the fence this morning that many of the grapes are starting to "purple up" now. Wish I knew how to turn them into a tasty wine or a sparkling grape juice! Instead, we may be away on vacation when the grapes are at their peak, and most of them will be consumed by birds, by neighbors, and by alley pedestrians just passing by.😁 Gives me a chance to show off 3 pruners, though!
