Beverages and Blades - Traditional of Course

Thank you, Jack. All is becoming well again over here. My taste is starting to come back more fully so I might actually get to enjoy the finale to my Advent here in the next day or two.

That's good to hear Dylan, I lost my sense of taste for about 6 months, as a side effect of taking some medication, some years back, and it wasn't pleasant at all :( Cheers my friend

To The Ghost of Christmas Past, and my first Rusty Nail of 2022 ;)

I've been drinking my Christmas gift beers quite regularly, typically one every other day, with one of my usual beers on the in-between days - gotta make the good stuff last for a while. 🤓 But I haven't been keeping up with posting them here! :(

My daughter from St. Paul, MN gave me a couple of crowlers like this:

Not being the most happenin' kind of guy, I had never even heard of crowlers before (growlers, yes, but not crowlers). But what the heck is in the big can? The label is not very specific! Barrett btb01 btb01 , are you familiar with this brewery?

Here's the can from another angle. OK, now I know how much beer is in the can, and I've learned that these Twin Cities microbrewers celebrate their French Absurdists, but I still don't know what I'm about to drink.

Finally, spinning the can a little farther reveals this informative sticker:

It's 25+ oz. of a peanut butter stout called Peanut Butter Jackpot! As I've probably written here before, I like peanut butter and I like stout, but I don't necessarily wish I could have them simultaneously. But this version was very good!
(Can't believe I forgot to include a knife in my photos of the crowler, but fortunately I had been messing around with processing knife photos to prep them for pasting onto another pic, and it worked out quite well here.)

I’m not familiar with that brewery, GT, but I do appreciate the crowler — handy way to bring home local beers that you’d only be able to drink at the brewery otherwise. (Growlers are fine, too, of course, but more of a commitment, especially if you’re drinking alone.) I’ve had a few peanut butter stouts/porters, some were ok, but not something I’d go for on a regular basis.

I am finally treating myself to the final beer in my 2021 Beer Advent.

This one is a treat and also made by McMenamins, out of Troutdale, OR. The Longest Night of the Year, a Whiskey Barrel-Aged Barleywine. Rich, delightfully decadent, this is a gift that keeps on giving - one that I am savoring, for sure.

That Cru Royale isn’t half bad either. If I’m holding a Macanudo that’s the one. Great picture!

Thank you! I do like this stick. I have a buddy who has hit and miss experiences with Macanudos but I haven't found a bad one yet - this one is particularly good though.

Too bad we aren’t all closer, I’d love to sit down and enjoy a drink and a nice cigar with you gents.
