Sorry Sir, but the Missus is right! :D
Dark rum (molasses) is not very usual in France and most rums are agricole, except on the the Réunion Island where the rhum arrangé was born.
Drop fruits in a large glass jar and let macerate in native 49° Charrette white (not agricole). The longer the better - it is important the fruits are very ripe to get the best flavour-. Add some lemongrass, clove tree/orange tree and cinnamon leaves. Some dry bananas (you will have to filtrate then) and a vanilla pod as well and for just a day or two (more gets too strong a flavour) some cinnamon and sweeten to your convenience with raw cane sugar or syrup. (the bottle is fairly loaded because I keep the old leaves and pour new rum and fruits when it reaches a disturbing level) :D
This is very different of spiced rum or flavored vodka. Some do use Agricole rhum, but it is too specific in taste imho, the simpler and stronger the rum, the better it will be. (Jamaican rum is too sweet, Haitian Clairin would fit the bill, as I don't think you find much 49° Charrette abroad.
I don't know a single house or restaurant on the Island who would not hold out a glass before you leave.

JP, thank you so much for the recipe. That really sounds like an outstanding rum infusion. When summer rolls around and the harvest is in I am absolutely going to make a bottle. Now for the hard part.... telling the wife that she was right :D

Happy Birthday!!!!

Today is my Friday and myself and the wife split this saison. It has a pretty low abv and was really easy drinking, we both enjoyed it quite a bit.

Yes, it is farmer.
Formerly the beer is only on tap, just started early of November last year they put it in a can

That's good stuff. I like seeing small breweries get their beers out and I'm enjoying the wide variety making it's way into cans. I almost picked up a farmer a few days ago with the intention of removing a layer to drop the can/ bottle opener but decided against potentially ruining a well built knife.

We can't go wrong with a farmer. I have several of it, more than a couple have been given to my staff at my previous job.
Many business were closed in the last few years, but Bentspoke seems doing good so far. Hoping that their "Decent 16", will be canned soon [emoji1]
I always trying to have the local beer whereever i go to a new place.

Glad to hear that they are doing well and I hope their production increases in 2017. I also like to try new beers whenever I travel both in the states and abroad. I've found that the locals usually know what's good:thumbup:

Don't know much about your American Bourbon, except that I like it :D and it costs a lot here in Finland.. Can't post a pic as out of town on work, but got hold of some Bulleit Bourbon, very nice drink indeed. But what knife goes with it......? Something smooth.:thumbup:

It's been years since I've had their bourbon—and I intend to fix that—but the Bulleit Straight Rye Whiskey is a staple in my liquor cabinet. It makes a great old fashioned.

At present, though, I'm enjoying some TeaC:

Thanks Jack  I enjoyed the beer almost as much as I enjoy the Lambsfoot's company. I hope the whisky does away with the cold you've caught.

Thanks my friend

Sounds good SB, have a great weekend

Been a while since I've been on bladeforums, fun going through this thread again!

This is my GEC STR electrician, and one of my favourite sessionable beers!

Here it is together with a new recruit, it seemed apt somehow. :) 45% is quite a strong one, but smooth.

Would you mind saying how you make Old Fashioned? Not familiar to me in Europe.

@Will Power I had never tried this beer until yesterday. Kept seeing it but never picked it up. It compares to Natty Greene's Buckshot Ale to me. The Half Hawk kinda surprised me when I got it. It is made well and is solid as can be. The blades are a little off center but that is perfectly fine for the price. Great little EDC. Thank you for the kind words

I like the STR electrician. I feel as if a GEC with a small saw would be pretty well received were it to come into production. Have not had the opportunity to try that brew, what style was it?

I like RR knives and Shiner Bock. Had a buddy who's favorite beer was SB and we used to consume a lot of it when we lived in the same state. Nicely captured picture:thumbup:

Thanks my friend

Nicely captured Buzz:thumbup: Your Case scout is a looker for sure. I enjoy Voodoo Ranger but have not tried the Green Bay ( I think ) IPA. How is it? Enjoy those beer can chickens

I also like the electrician, really any GEC with a unique tool offering! The beer is an unfiltered ipa, but only about 4.3% alcohol. Very flavourful!

The second knife is actually paper micarta if i remember correctly... it was the 2013 traditional bladeforums knife.

The IPA sounds great! The lower abv IPA's are nice when the plan is to have two or eight beers:D It is impressive how much flavor they get out of them even when they cut back the %. I'm a huge fan of micarta and that paper micarta looks great.
