Nicely done! that's good stuff, enjoy-

@StoneBeard SB really impressed me being an amber lager. RR has also impressed me with the quality. The sheepsfoot had grown on me big time in 2 days. Didn't use it much today since I was bucking trees most of the day but it's day will surely come. Thanks for the kind words though

Very nice TheFactor:thumbup:

Interesting story about the Philadelphia Distilling Company whom makes Bluecoat Gin. When I picked up this bottle from the store there was a small band around the neck. Inside was a little note stating that if I contacted the company they'd give me 10% off my next purchase. I followed the instructions and then just went on living life, forgetting I'd done so.

Today when I went and got the mail there was a small envelope addressed to me. When I opened it up there was a hand written letter thanking me for my purchase, a business card and three dollars in the form of one single and a two dollar bill! This was my 10% discount. That is just a classy move and something you rarely see in today's automated world.

Thanks StoneBeard [emoji846]
That was a class act gesture by Philadelphia distilling[emoji106] So true it makes it that much more personal with a hand written letter . I felt the same way when I purchased a couple of leather pocket slips from Hitch &Timber . They included with both slips that I purchased a signed card thanking me for my support and purchase hand written by Michael . Thought it was a real classy thought to take the time to do that .
Btw that's a beautiful knife you have there what model and brand is that ? I really like it and the covers are beautiful .
Edit: That Gin looks pretty darn good to !

Interesting story about the Philadelphia Distilling Company whom makes Bluecoat Gin.....

Great story! Thanks for sharing. It makes me happy to find out that a product I enjoy is made by a company that is cool and has a personal touch.

Nice pictures, too. They're another strong nudge towards me trying out that tonic syrup recipe you posted. ;)

That's the stuff right there, Mike! Seeing that kind of personalized customer service makes me want to search out Bluecoat Gin and support their distillery! I used to collect $2 bills as a kid, so that nostalgia really plays for me. Beautiful Lambfoot, btw!

...
I've been trying to keep a cold at bay with copious amounts of whisky and whiskey :D
...
Hope you're winning the battle with the cold, Jack!
Do copious amounts of whiskey really work? For me, drinking whiskey probably makes me more eager for a fight, but it probably REDUCES my ability to actually win any fights!! :D

Here's an old pic from last summer; it's got me feeling quite nostalgic for summertime, when the livin' is easy, catfish are jumpin' and the cotton is high!

JP, thank you so much for the recipe. That really sounds like an outstanding rum infusion. When summer rolls around and the harvest is in I am absolutely going to make a bottle. Now for the hard part.... telling the wife that she was right :D
Now here come the bad news, you'll have to wait at least a month before tasting it! :)

Here it is together with a new recruit, it seemed apt somehow. :) 45% is quite a strong one, but smooth.

Would you mind saying how you make Old Fashioned? Not familiar to me in Europe.

IMG_4339.jpg

Those two look perfect together!

An Old Fashioned is a simple cocktail, but one of my favorites. There are variations, but I usually keep it simple:

- Place a sugar cube in a glass add saturate it with two or three (or more to taste) dashes of bitters.
- Add a splash of water (I use seltzer water, but still would be fine, too) and muddle until sugar is mostly dissolved.
- Add 1.5 oz to 2 oz of bourbon or rye whiskey.
- Add a splash more water, if desired, and a few ice cubes and give a quick stir.

Some people add a brandied cherry or orange slice when muddling or add a twist of orange zest as garnish. Those are good variations, and I enjoy them, but I don't always have those ingredients on hand.

By the way, I recently discovered that the same basic recipe above also works well with gin, especially one with a strong botanical character.
