Here's a closeup of the Widow Maker black ale in a glass with a frosted etch of the name of where we're renting and a "chamber of commerce" map of the Les Cheneaux Islands (the frosted stuff is land, the clear glass is water).

According to the story on the can, she represents one of many miners' wives who were made widows by the early pneumatic drill she's carrying. The drill apparently made copper mining in the Keweenaw Peninsula of Michigan much more efficient, but because it lacked any kind of dust suppressor it was known as the Widow Maker because so many more miners died from inhaling dust in the mines.
