Beverages and Blades - Traditional of Course

'Tis the Season, Dave! :thumbsup:🤓:cool:
I may have mentioned that I usually buy my first Oktoberfest beers while we're Up North in August, but I couldn't find any in the local grocery store this year. Since we returned home on August 30, I've gone out to buy groceries a couple of times, and I've bought some Oktoberfest each time. Here's one of them, brewed about 60 miles south of where I live:

And heres to my Mate ..Tall Dicky Baker..
Made a big roadtrip to see his ashes off at Platypus Flats ...Nymboida River NSW...where he was a white water guide and maniac.
He also guided a few tours of The Kokoda Trail in New Guinea in his day. Sadly gone.
Lots of good memories .
Mad Man ..bon voyagee Biggus Dickus.

I'll bet that's some good scotch :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:
Aye. It's good stuff. This is the second time I've had it. I had one bottle of it before when I was overseas. It's not heavy on the peat or smokey like some. The rum cask gives it a nice finish, too.

Here's an old photo of a brother to it along with a few cousins for a tasting I put on. I ended up giving away what was left when I moved away. Lots of tasty stuff, there. Unfortunately, not all of those knives are traditional, but at least one is.

Love the textured bolsters!
Thank you.!

As far as I'm aware, Jan Potgieter is the oldest member of the Knife Guild South Africa to be a part of their yearly show......and they have a lot of 'old boys'..!

He does all sorts, but this was one of his early slipjoints. Lovely action, dovetail handle and worked bolsters

I bought groceries on Monday and added Samuel Adams Octoberfest and Founders Oktoberfest to my seasonal stockpile of Märzen brews. I drank a Sam Adams with supper last night but forgot to take a photo, so here's an old (2019) pic of a bottle with a label that has been revised since then. (I should make myself some nachos sometime soon; haven't done that in ages.)
