  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Beverages and Blades - Traditional of Course

I recently posted a photo with a typical lunch at our Lake Huron rental, and here's a similar photo. Basically same kind of sandwich (summer sausage, bacon, extra sharp cheddar, onions, mustard, dill pickle, romaine lettuce, and hot pepper rings). But the chips are slightly different this time - Doritos Cool Ranch (I haven't eaten Doritos for years but it was all I could find) instead of tortilla chips with a touch/hint/dollop/pinch of lime.

Also the beer is different - still from Keweenaw Brewing, but Red Jacket instead of Widowmaker. A very long tradition in the 30+ years we've come up here for a week or two in August is that I usually buy my first Oktoberfest beer of the season up here (usually it's Leinenkugel Octoberfest). But this year I can't find ANY seasonal Oktoberfest brews except this Red Jacket (which is actually available year-round, I think).

I have a Case canoe with the same bone and bolsters and shield
Your canoe collection (well, if I'm honest, your ENTIRE collection) is amazing. I do love the lined bolsters and shield on the Tribal Lock. I was told it is from the early 2000s era.

Thanks for the kind words, Dave. :)
Looking at the tang stamp in your photo above, with the script C with long tail under ASE XX, and the USA under that, and one dot under the pattern number, I'd probably say your Tribal Lock was made in 1999.
You can check Case date stamps here:

I'm surprised that my canoe with the same covers was made 20 years later in 2019 (no USA on my canoe's tang stamp, and one X instead of one dot).

A fairly recent discovery - Double Oak American rye whiskey with a prominent coconut note among others, along with a Nub Habano and a Rough Rider Copperhead wearing bluegill bone stag to fidget with while I listen to some Pink Floyd.

Sounds like a nice way to pass an evening.
