Beverages and Blades - Traditional of Course

My wife and I took a tour of the Bardstown Distillery in May, 2023. They gave us a sample of this white label Origin but they had not bottled it yet so I couldn’t take any home with me. I absolutely loved it and I couldn’t wait until it hit the liquor store shelves. This is approximately my 8th or 10th bottle since then and I still love it.

The Black Box Winchester was a gift from The Fort The Fort in 2018. It was really cool how he did it. Lance sent me 2 Black Box Winchesters and let me pick the one I wanted!

I set my own personal rule that I only drink on Friday and Saturday nights.

TGIF! 😊

'Tis the Season, Dave!🤓
I may have mentioned that I usually buy my first Oktoberfest beers while we're Up North in August, but I couldn't find any in the local grocery store this year. Since we returned home on August 30, I've gone out to buy groceries a couple of times, and I've bought some Oktoberfest each time. Here's one of them, brewed about 60 miles south of where I live:

Bells makes excellent beer! I had a proper stein of the Peticolas Marzen at my favorite local pub IMG_8225.jpegIMG_7209.jpeg

That’s good stuff.

Dave, that's a chunk of beer! I hope you didn't chug it. 😁 We went to the local fish fry for late lunch yesterday and I had a 22 oz. draft of Amber Bock.
Hadn't had one of those in a looong while, but it went down smooth.

Both stein and canoe are impressive, Dave! 😲:thumbsup:

Here on the last day of September, I think I'm set to kick off Oktoberfest celebrations, with a half-dozen Festbier variants currently on hand: Bell's, Sierra Nevada, Keweenaw Red Jacket, Samuel Adams, Leinenkugel, and Founders.
Since I typically drink only one beer each day, and I have 12-packs of all of these, I can celebrate Oktoberfest for at least a couple of months! 🤓

Ahoy me Hearties...emergency trip to Canberra A.C.T. the nation's Capital today....delivered Big Niles beer to Plonk bottle....20 cases need replacing due to canning machine fault...and so like most modern day Vikings I took advantage of the whole mission and procured some loot...20251009_172936.jpg

Honestly the only way for me at this age. If you go for couple of aftwork beers, the daily labor camp that you know to wait for you at home will multiply on the comedown or whatever the opposite of buzz is called. Better to wait to the dark before you even consider taking anything so you don’t break your jaws from the yawning.

- looks delightful, and great pic A.L. A.L.

It’s so nice that whisky can vary like that - mine, I prefer slightly smokey/peaty with a honeyed finish.

Cheers.!

Exactly!
There are times when you wan’t that fruity and light and then there are times when you want smoky and peaty whisky. Depending on season I like crispy pilsners or thick and unfiltered wheat beers.
It’s nice to have variety in life just like with knives and it’s nice to see what different people from different places and life styles enjoy.

I'm at the season of the year during which I drink an Oktoberfest beer with my supper 4 or 5 days each week. A long-time favorite brand is Leinenkugel Oktoberfest. Here are photos of front and back of a can I poured into my mug recently. (I have no idea why there's such a substantial head on the beer in the mug. I'm usually fairly competent at pouring to keep the head quite minimal.)

Bought this whisky in our autumn break. I haven’t bought a bottle in a while but this really works for me! Very spicy, reminds me of rum! I have to keep an eye for spicy whiskys in the future!
I like the looks of that knife along with the glencairn! I have not heard of that scotch whisky. The Blood Oath is usually a very good bourbon. Each release is different.
