Bad Beware Foster Impact Devices - Blackjacks

I see what you mean, but I have to disagree. I put in an order with DD Whips and he was completely professional and pleasant to work with and I appreciate that. And when I get the jack, if it's made as well as I expect it will be, then I will plaster photos and reviews of it everywhere I can to draw up more business for the guy. I love supporting makers that are pleasant to communicate with. That's one of the reason I like going to bladeshow; meeting the people that I've been talking to online and talking with them in person about what they're working on and how they do it.
I definitely want to hear about your DD Whips sap when you get it, That website if chock full of awesome stuff.

Oh, I guess that means guess our economy is good to go. I still stand by the insanity requirement for sap vendors though.

Umm well by most objective metrics including GDP, unemployment, wage growth, housing values and the stock market the economy is just fine. The recession ended a few years back. So yes our economy is good to go. Agree about bad sellers though. There are too many good sellers to bother with bad ones.

Finally, Scott decided to respond back to my post, by cursing at me, calling me names, and threatening me, because according to him I feel "entitled" by expecting him to make anything for me, despite being in the business of making and selling these...

In the 90s I knew a guy who wrapped handles for japanese swords (I don't want to debate terminology) in this hi-tech synthetic rayskin looking stuff. Don't have the swords anymore, but he gave me this very same attitude when I first asked about progress, not knowing it would take weeks. I don't know why they just can't give you a straight answer in a sentence instead of exploding.

Unfortunately, I have had a very similar experience with a maker recently. Ironically, this maker makes point to mention that customer service is a cornerstone of their company. Despite this, I've ended up sending multiple emails, unanswered. Text messages, unanswered or carelessly answered. More or less poor or lacking communication in all respects. It can be infuriating as we're more or less trying to hand them money.

Inevitably, they did handle the situation well enough, still with poor communication and underlying animosity. Just left a bad taste in my mouth that resonates unto the products I had intended to purchase in the future.

Within the same month as this experience, I was also pleasantly surprised by another one of my favorite makers with exceptional customer service. Above and beyond. For the second time, might I add.

Why I own one of one maker and 10 of the other. Mostly why, lol.

I hear you. A poor experience buying an item does seem to tarnish that item's value once you get it.

My fun continues. Woke up this morning to one of Scott's minions messaging me (what he thinks is) my home address, saying that I "can't hide". What a bunch of sad keyboard warriors.

He and or his followers are threatening and harassing you? That's just insane, it speaks volumes about them. It seems you have only partially dodged a bullet.

Some start believing the hype of their fans which can be a dangerous mistake for both the craftsman and the business.

If you do report it to the police, I wouldn't disclose that to the the blackjack wielding mob. Because if (when) the police take no action, it could (will) backfire and empower these guys.

I got my DD Whips blackjack today. This thing is awesome, I am very happy with it. I really can't imagine a jack being better made than this one.

And of course, he didn't throw a tantrum or email me any threats, so there's that.

Which one did you get?

I check out their site, and they all look to be very well made.

I went with the stiletto model, with a few customizations. Cable, 9”,11.3 oz, kangaroo leather, and I had him add a wrist strap.
Man, that sounds awesome, and quick turnaround too!

How do you like the cable? Almost all the "in stock" stuff has the spring core. I was really liking the stiletto model, and the carnie jack is freaking amazing as well. I might need to commission a cable version of that thing.

Usually because they are dicking around, know they are dicking around and hope you won’t call them on it. That’s why they get defensive.

If they are truly overwhelmed and busy they usually won’t get upset and defensive.

Companies as well as individuals with good customer service don't have to tell you they have it.

You're right John. That situation only got worse and I ended up returning the knife to the maker for a refund. The ONLY time I've ever done such a thing throughout my entire time collecting knives, which has been many years. On a $800 custom no less.

Still, making a point of mentioning your customer serve isn't necessarily a bad thing, however, you'd better be able to back it up.

Sounds like a real jackass man, don't lose any sleep over these kind of people...they are the minority. I have only been on this forum a for few days and have already met a bunch of great people...stick to the good people.

Scott was always a pleasure to deal with, but its been a few years since I bought anything from him. Todd could be a bit curt. Sorry to hear about the change in his customer service. Maybe the lead finally got to him.

I finally bit the bullet and ordered a couple of jacks from DD's Big Hoss Braided Leather Designs.
