Bad Beware of Jeremy Swisher aka j-swish16, jamesjones, & JKnight1. Misrepresented condition of knife - painful transaction and ordeal.

As someone who's newer, I look for and appreciate feedback like this.

The blanket "don't do business with new guys" doesn't scream "community" to me.

I know for a fact (anyone Ive sold to/traded with can vouch for this) I make it a point to point out any perceivable flaws with words and pictures.

As usual, "some, not all" definitely applies with respect to us new people.
I have no problem with new members at all…we were all there at one time…but spending 100% of your time buying and flipping knives on our free exchange doesn’t scream “community” either.

Thats fair

But there are also other avenues of interacting with the community- for myself, that happens to be YouTube.

Id also willingly concede that there are other avenues of buying/selling/trading knives. Reddit as a whole confuses the hell outta me. Maybe thats on me but Id be willing to bet Im not the only one in that boat.

This happens to be (to my knowledge) the easiest, most straightforward place that enables me to experience more cool knives- and for that reason, Im more than happy to PAY the membership fee.

Thanks

Most new members used to get involved in the forum discussions and participate instead of jumping in the exchange day one and never venturing outside of it. . More recently a large majority of new members come and only post in the exchange ... much as yourself. That has been a red flag as many of the people that are only here for the exchange are far more likely to be the ones you will have problems with buying and selling, they aren't at all invested in the forums. And the whole "vouches" thing has been ran through the ringer here and holds no water for most members. I don't know you and you may be a great person and member, I recommend you get involved a bit and enjoy the hobby. There is far more to it than buying and selling, and most of the the people are pretty awesome if you get to know them.

Maybe we're talking about different communities. If youre referring to the BF community specifically, I get that. Ive exchanged PMs, texts, emails, etc with mutiple members outside of pure transactions.

I was referring to the knife community as a whole, and as I stated above- just happen to be more familiar/involved with the YouTube world

One quick note about venturing out of the Exchange... I actually made a point to do that yesterday...

I came across a thread with more than 2k posts of people going on and on about a member whose name starts with a K and how much of a piece of shit he is. I thought it was ironic that the thread someone linked to as evidence of how much this person sucks contained that "idiot", "jerk", "asshole" etc... offering to GIFT someone a membership.

If the vast majority here think Mr K is an asshole, maybe youre right and this isnt a place for me 🤷‍♂️

Back to the freedom-loving gun community I came from... I'll see myself out, take

Hmmm ... to explain, but I guess that's kind of why a lot of members are hesitant to do business with newer members who don't take the time or effort to participate outside of the exchange. If you want to use the "I'll take my toys and go home" response to people trying to explain the why behind statements made, that's your choice. You can lead a horse and all ...

You can lead a horticulture but you can’t make them think…

Hmmm Ok this is somewhat worrisome now and glad no-one locked the thread yet as I purchased a Launch 1 from this seller and sent payment for it on Friday the 27th. from this listing here: https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/kershaw-launch-1-and-launch-2–-lnib-made-in-usa.1806299/. I didn't think anything of it much at the time but then realized haven't heard from him after sending payment. Usually a seller will respond something of the nature of receiving the payment and sending the knife out, however, I heard nothing. To be fair it is only Monday so 2 business days have passed and just sent him a PM about the L1 asking if it was shipped yet. Crossing my fingers on this one. I have to say this thread gives me some worry but it has only been a few days and have to give the seller the benefit of the doubt especially since he is dealing with his daughter in the hospital.

wish me luck

You tell me how to do that on this site with a phone. And I’m all over it. This site needs some major changes in uploading capabilities
Take pics on phone. Open Imgur, or any other free hosting site...upload the hi-res photos.

Once saved, open the individual photo, click the share button (the triangle icon with three balls on the tip and ends).

Click copy....

On the thread you are posting the pics to click on the mountain icon seen above the text box.

Click on the button that looks like a twisted paper clip. Paste and hit enter.....poof.

I'm not very tech savvy, but have been posting pics to Bladeforums for 15 years or so now?

I have not used a computer to do so in years and years..

All phone...

What an excellent observation.

Yes this is an awful place if you plan to behave like a clown and think no one will notice or remember.

As they say;; "Cavet Emptor".

Those look like concrete kisses after dropping the knife on concrete. Definitely not new!!

Refund-time!!

Yep, dropped for sure on/over concrete (opening over concrete is another rookie mistake unto itself).

Quite often it happens when one gives an automatic to a newbie greenhorn, or even new yourself. Granted, the Kwaiken doesn’t have a “kick” to it at all, but to the uninitiated, I’ve even seen a simple Boker Kalashnikov jump out of peoples grip. Even seen them drop one while trying to close it and they let it go before it locks shut, that’s where it really flies about, spinning out of control in that death roll scenario.

I do not buy the argument that Protech packed it up that way and sold it as new to a authorized dealer, and the dealer in turn sold it to a customer as new, and that customer received it that way and didn’t send it back upon opening the box up and inspecting & playing with it (never even seeing or feeling all those dents).

If it turns out you get boned on this Launch 1 deal, write it up here in the GBU and I’ll see it. I have a truly 100% Mint BNIB Launch 1,2 3,4,5,&7. I’ll hook you up with one. We have had some positive history together outside of the exchange that was enjoyed by each of us. It would be my pleasure to help a fellow Blade Brother out, no charge.

Ah you rock mate and I'm humbled by your offer. thanks for the kind words too.

As it were, did receive a message back today from the seller and with some tracking numbers so will be crossing my fingers as unfortunately this time I sent F/F so have no recourse. Don't usually do this but buyers been sending me this way (without me asking) and is appreciated as a seller. Guess I've been riding too long on the full trust train and bound to derail at some point. Nonetheless, will hold out till the package arrives and hope for the best.
