Bad Beware of Jeremy Swisher aka j-swish16, jamesjones, & JKnight1. Misrepresented condition of knife - painful transaction and ordeal.

If it turns out you get boned on this Launch 1 deal, write it up here in the GBU and I’ll see it. I have a truly 100% Mint BNIB Launch 1,2 3,4,5,&7. I’ll hook you up with one. We have had some positive history together outside of the exchange that was enjoyed by each of us. It would be my pleasure to help a fellow Blade Brother out, no charge.

This is what an upstanding member of the community looks like. This place is about more than the exchange. It really is a community.

Seems like there's a lot of negative feedback for newer members lately. Maybe they should try being active outside of the Exchange for a while.

Yep. Hate to say it because it sucks for all the newer members, but I've gotten to the point where if you didn't join before 2020, I'm probably not going to sell you a knife. It's gotten bad lately. :(

Quality showing through, here.

Wow this thread has gone off the rails.

FWIW - I bought a Houge automatic off J-Swish16 a couple weeks ago and it went decently well. He took a little longer than normal to post the tracking info (which had me sweating a little) but ended up doing it a few days later, all while having active listings going and posting new ones. Yes, I got a little worried when I saw new selling posts he created while waiting for tracking info, but a few days later we were good. I think everyone is quick to jump on something like this which is great, but I personally feel he is a good seller that is just very busy and might not be prioritizing correctly. Hopefully he gets better at this. Sounds like the buyer is also a stand up guy, he absolutely in the right to be upset.

To all the unsolicited old-guard-boys-club posters, please, and I mean this in the nicest way possible, eat a bag of dicks. You where new here once too, and time on site isn’t an indicator of credibility or morals.

I'm not in favor of lynch mobs, myself. That said, I don't recommend expressing yourself in this manner going forward. There are better ways to make your point.

Thank you for rewording that statement. When all people know you by is a user name and avatar picture...time, activity, and feedback history definitely builds "credibility and morals."
You’re conflating things, putting words in my mouth, and I disagree with you. Days since your joined date has no bearing on your credibility or intentions as a seller. Activity and feedback is a different story. J-swish is a brand new seller, but has exceptional feedback and activity score. I believe him to be a good seller, and don’t feel the “has to be x months old account” argument is just.

Conflating what? I didn't put any words in your mouth. "You where new here once too, and time on site isn’t an indicator of credibility or morals."

All I'm saying is, build your presence. You have only been here for 30 days. Why should I have to trust someone that just joined yesterday?

Totally agree. Building your presence and name is important, and buyers should be attune to checking feedback and post history.

Sorta.

This forum has had many, many new members that join up and immediately begin buying and selling. There is nothing wrong with that upon itself.

But it also has had many, many members that join up with the intent to take advantage of other members.

Participation and some vetting certainly helps create a bit of credibility, and some peace of mind for those who utilize the exchange.

Even more so as of late, as the forum has had a uptick of dubious activity.

While I am willing to let this incident slide and not hold it against Swish, it is time for him to get with the program. It is very important to give full disclosure of any flaws, defects or problems with the item(both through photos and words). This includes Brand new items that aren't perfect. If it is BNIB and has no flaws, then say that, but the terms BNIB, LNIB are not full enough descriptions by themselves (IMO). Add to this good communication, fast shipping and providing a tracking number are other signs of a good seller. If a problem does happen(and they do from time to time) be willing and able to take it back and refund the money.. If you are unwilling or too busy to do these things, it is best not to sell.
All IMO

100% agree phrases like BNIB and LNIB aren't good enough. Besides examples like you describe, some people just don't know the definitions. There are FS threads with knives with things like swapped parts or sharpenings disclosed but also in the same sentence listed as BNIB. Obviously those aren't cases where the seller is trying to hide anything, but they go to show the phrases aren't enough.

Speaking in general, little to no description and bad or no pictures are obvious signs of a bad or lazy seller and in either case the purchase is a gamble. Not knowing how is not an excuse (it's been literally 15 years since googling was added to the dictionary, so you know how to google "how to add photos to forum" or "how to add photos to bladeforums", both of which have a working answer as the top result). A seller lazy about either also means they were probably lazy about looking over the knife and also might be lazy about how they package to ship it and probably won't be on top of communication if any problems happen.

There are some members whose word is good enough for me...even without pictures. (And I'd like to think mine would be as well with some.)

Their say-so alone that it was a premium example of the particular knife would be sufficient. Granted, one would have to have earned that rep over a period of time.

I'm sorry, what? "Exceptional feedback"? The guy's got 7 positive feedbacks, with a negative, and a thread calling him out for a bad sale where he misrepresented an item.

If that's "exceptional" to you, that's worrisome, and further, a sign that perhaps you might not know what the word "exceptional" means. Wow.
