Big EDC Folder Recomendations.

Still loving my ZT0200, after all these years. (I have the KW, not the black bladed version)
I wasn't thrilled with the SteelCraft Bodega, at first - there was one particular thing I disliked - but I got over that, and carry it quite often, now. The blade is slightly smaller than the 0200; but overall length is pretty comparable.

I'm diggin' all these recommendations. Some knives I hadn't even heard of. Keep tbem coming.

Update :
- Can't find the Retribution in stock anywhere. May have to look on the Exchange.
- The Grayman site seemed very glitchy today and only had one folder available for viewing (a mid-size folder. Not the Satu or Dua).
- Looks like the 4-Max has a pinned clip and since I remove clips , I guess this one is out of the running.
- The BM Bedlam and Spyderco Chinook 4 both look kinda cool.
- A buddy just suggested the Colossus. I'll have to google it in a bit.
- The Shaman looks big and solid. Just a little boring. But it's always a dif story once you actually carry and use the knife.

Oh I forgot about Grayman. Good thinking. I'll look into that today. By "bigger" I mean bigger overall (both longer and chunkier). I don't mind a heavy knife at all. In fact , I like knowing it's in my pocket so the extra weight is fine with me.

Check out the Wander Tactical folders for a true beast of a knife. I don’t know why they aren’t more popular.

^^ Wander Tactical and Manly Peak , I'll Google them now. Thanks.

* Can't find a thing about Wander Tac folders. Just fixed blades. But the fixed blades do look sweet.

The Boker Stingray is blah at best, I own one. Off center, plastic washers, the texture kills pants, lock stick, a mediocre clip, not ground at the heel of the blade. The only thing it has going for it is a (subjectively) good look. But I wouldn't recommend it for anything more than a collectible.

Well scratch that one off the list!!

Save some money and get a Cold Steel Recon in CTS-XHP. Much lighter than the 4 Max, but still as strong and you'll ever need. Great steel, and a great slicer.

That K2 does look awesome.

Just saw the TOPS/Buck CSAR-T too. Nice and beefy.

I'm currently on the hunt for a bigger size edc folder for under $400. Non-flippers only.

My current picks are the Cold Steel 4-Max and BM Crooked River.

The 4-Max looks really interesting so I'm sort of favoring it right now. Not sure how the fit and finish on CS knives is. Never owned one.

What else should I be looking at?

Crooked river is an outstanding pick. Hogue x5 is also a pretty outstanding 4". Like a chef knife in your pocket with the wide flat ground blade. Edit: cancel that x5. It has a flipper

Go to google and search wander tactical mistral and wander tactical hurricane.

There’s also Pohl Force knives. They have lots of large folders. Unfortunately I don’t think they’re having Lionsteel make their framelock models anymore. Check them out though, they have some sweet stuff.

Bastinelli also has some quite large folders being made by lionsteel.

Excellent. I'll get on those right now. Thank ya.

You can always check out any of the "Super" Emersons - CQC-7, CQC-8, Commander. But people are either love 'em or hate 'em with Emerson.

I did just get a friend a Crooked River, and it IS a damn nice knife.

Cold steel generally makes good stuff, though not too flashy unless you like tactically looking G10 with a rough finish.

I think the CS broken skull is a really nice big folder that carries very small for such a long blade. I like it only a little less than my military unless I'm going to do some hard work, then the ergos on the military's bigger handle shine. No lanyard hole on the broken skull so that may be something to consider if you use lanyards when you remove the pocket clips.

4 max would probably complement your Millie's better though since the stoutness of the 4-max should diversify the use a little bit. The broken skull is another very slicey design, it just carries nicer.

For what it's worth, I'm less a fan of the axis lock for bigger blades because the ability to hold the blade into the handle is too weak. I was easily able to open the contego simply by pushing the blade out and flicking the wrist, which is cool for opening but not cool if I drop it on the floor and it opens up most of the time. Probably the only downside of the axis lock, IMO, assuming you use the knife like a knife.

i'd grab a crooked river for a big folder. if i actually wanted to spend the full amount for whatever reason I would pick up a CRK or Harsey. liking a big ass folder is one of the only reasons i can think of to pick up a spartan harsey. I'm sure they're great, great rep, just never gonna need a 4" knife. i've got a s110v millie, it's perfect, just never gets used.

AFCK on the secondary market? Size-wise it compares pretty closely with the Military, and it has the thumbhole opener, so there's a lot of similarity, but it's different enough to be interesting.

Crooked River is my biggest knife but I find that I carry an Endura above all others. Meanwhile, I'm contemplating the Police. I like the lock back design.

Military is considerably bigger in hand, with options for several different hand positions, and carries a bit larger. I think the blade is probably close to the slicey-ness of the endura but it's been a while since I've had the endura; an obvious amount more belly on the millie. I think the ergos on the millie are superb and I think the design really lends itself well to a winter knife as it is amazing with gloves on. The lockbar has a lot showing to get the mitts in there, the big handle allows for thick gloves, and pretty much any spydie hole is a good for gloves. Both are good for different reasons. I think the millie is worth the extra cost but I love 50/50 finger choils. I sold my delica for a native 5 for the same reason. Less needed on the big blades but I like it none-the-less.
