BK2 Sheath Mod. Extremely Photo Heavy

Had one of these little cable clamps break off on me today:

I have to melt the hole a bit to get it to fit properly. Has anyone else used this method, and did they have to melt it to make it work? I just replaced it, but would feel better if I didn't have to melt it. Thanks.

Thanks. This thread is a little old now, but my cable clamp/firesteel holder broke, and instead of starting a new thread, I brought it up here.

Thanks Warrior I just ordered the pouch from ESEE. I'm not exactly copying your design, I'll alter it some.

Fan-effing-tastic.
Thanks brother.

One of the best BK2 sheath mods out there Dubz. Bad to the bone.
Thanks tw, I put a little work into that one. I remember it taking forever, because I would think of a new idea, and have to order parts for it. Took longer to get everything in, than it did to put it all together. It was a fun project though. I like how it all came together. Looks even better with tiger striped handles sticking out.

Like I said in chat Dubz, you might try the half inch clamps with maybe a piece of thin wall pipe or tubing to shrink it down to a manageable size for the ferro rod. I used the half inch ones and they fit perfectly.

Yeah, I might go that route too, especially since I already have the 1/2" ones. Like I said, I made another out of the 3/8, but since it's modded, I don't really think it's gonna last too long...seriously.

Sorry to drag up an old thread but those are some really cool mods to that sheath. On the wire cable clamps, were they able to fit in place with the screws that come with the sheath originally or did you have to buy longer screws?

Just out of curiosity, do you know what the entire package weighs? It looks like a lot of kit.

I got some screws at the hardware store. Don't remember the size. I took my sheath in with me to make sure I had the right ones. The way it is in the photos, it weighed 2 1/4 lbs. Very heavy, but not too noticeable once it was on the belt. I took the sharpener, and BK14 off it, so of course it would weigh less now.

Can you show a picture of how exactly the puch is attached? Also where did you get the cable clamps? Are they available at pretty much any hardware store?

Just run the shock cord through the bottom eyelets on the sheath, through the bottom holes on the pouch, run the cord along the pouch, through the top eyelets of the pouch, through the top eyelets on the sheath, place a cord lock over the ends, pull cord tight, slide the cord lock all the way up. That's it.
